We had the good fortune of connecting with Dantayvious Finklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dantayvious, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I would say I battle with this a lot, especially when business revenue has decreased. Constantly I would doubt myself, and ask myself is this even worth the stress? which then makes me want to give up.But then I have to remind myself of why I started in the first place. Sometimes I go back, and look through old messages from clients, or even looking through old pictures to remind myself of how far I’ve came, I’ve realized Sometimes a trip down memory lane is necessary to remind you of your achievements, and when you see your growth you have to ask yourself do you really want to let all of your hard work that you put into your investment go to waste? Then you constantly have to remind yourself that there are people out there that are really rooting for you. There are people out there that are really waiting for you to impact their lives in a positive way with whatever it is that you do. People tend to give up when their “WHY” is not concrete. We tend to give up when we realize that there was no purpose in what we started. Because if it was something you were passionate about, it wouldn’t be that easy to let go.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I’m a Photographer, and Content Creator I feel as if what sets me apart from others is the way I try to listen to the customers needs, and maintain a level of professionalism. And when it comes to content I’m relatable, and I feel as if that is what people want “Relatable Content”. I got where I am today by taking risks, networking, always allowing input, and feedback. It definitely wasn’t easy, I battled a lot with self doubt, wondering if I would ever be good enough. Wondering if people would like what I do. A lot of prayer, manifesting, self work, and therapy especially made me overcome the challenges that I faced. I’ve learned a lot along the way like, be true to yourself, INVEST! Take feedback, and learn from it whether its good or bad. Be stern about your purpose, and stick with it, and always find ways to be inspired. I want people to know that Danni D Photography, and the Danni Debonair brand is all about building your confidence, while embracing you with charm.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, Saturday Night the Wharf is always a great place for some good music, drinks, great Food Trucks, it kind of have that outside backyard feel to it. If you’re looking for some good R&B music Sunday nights, Coyo Taco in Wynwood Miami is the place to be. The music is a different vibe, and the tacos, and quesadillas are GREAT! Then I’m a museum person, so I love scenery, and ART so during the week Perez Art Museum, Super blue Miami, Vizcaya Park, are places to go where you can see beautiful art whether its 3D or Abstract, Architecture, Sculpture you name it, they have it. Food theres always room for Tacos at El Camino in Fort lauderdale, or Bar Rita, Dunkanoo which is a great Jamaican Restaurant located in Miami as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to recognize a few people that made a difference in my success. First I would like to say my Father Dana Finklin. Even though he’s no longer with me physically, he’s always made sure I went after what I wanted out of life. I still look at him now as my “Guardian Angel”. Then I would like to say my Step Mom, Glenda Finklin. She has showed me over the years the meaning of strength, while also showing me that with strength comes vulnerability. My sister Moniqueca Brown, who always remind me to constantly do what I love. My Brother Danterious Brown, who is always willing to listen to my creative ideas, and give me honest feedback. Then theres my Best Friend for almost over decade Erika St, Hubert who instills faith into me, and how important it is to have a relationship with God. and Special shoutout to my other Best Friend Jaz Avery, and Emmanuel Williams they both took time out of their busy schedules to be a models for my photoshoots, in my beginners phase and I will forever appreciate them for that. Lastly, Shy Riddick, who has granted me with so many connections which propelled, my photography career.
