We had the good fortune of connecting with David Phoenix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From a very young age I have had an attraction to beautiful objects and furniture as well as architecture. I would buy magazines that contained floor plans after my paper route and then re-create them on my own. I would read shelter magazines and fantasize about designing my own place some day.

From a young age I was drawn to being creative and thinking outside the box.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my firm 28 years ago in Los Angeles. I am self taught with no formal education. Probably one of my strengths that I have learned over the years is to be a good listener , don’t be afraid to say you don’t know the answer . Confidence comes with time and not being in fear of failing . Failure is not a bad thing in fact some of my biggest failures have been the biggest gifts or learning lessons . Hard work, putting in the time , and being willing are key to being successful in my opinion. Collaboration is a big part of my story, know your strengths and weaknesses and embrace them, its ok to ask for help. Most success stories didn’t happen overnight or alone, it takes a village.
Today I am excited about my new office in Palm Beach and the exciting projects we are working on here in Florida as well as Los Angeles, and Montana.
in 2017 I started David Phoenix Home Collection, were I have licensed collections with Hickory Chair, Kravet and Soicher Marin , This is another area that I have so enjoyed designing furniture and fabrics as well as curating a collection of art for Soicher Marin.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow , well everything is new and exciting for me being a new resident of Florida. To kick the weekend off a workout at 1 Fitness in West Palm Beach its a great facility with expert trainers, Then a quick snack and fresh juice at Celis Juice Bar Shopping on Worth Ave Trillion, Mary Mahoney , Richter’s are some of my favorite shops also Kassatlys linens the oldest store on Worth Ave, they have great embroidered lines. , then head over to Royal Poinciana for more shopping and lunch at Sant Ambrose , beautiful ambience , food & the best people watching! Then there is the Norton Museum and sculpture garden a must when visiting the Palm Beaches. Another great activity is to take a walking tourto learn about the history of Palm Beach and the wonderful architecture.
The Breakers , Seafood Bar, Renatos , Palm Beach Grill are a few of my favorite places for dinner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
