We had the good fortune of connecting with KOWKOW and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KOWKOW, why did you pursue a creative career?
I stutter so my speech is different for everybody else.. Music is the best way for me to express myself. I explain my stories everything I experience the best Through my music you can hear and feel what I been through. Very different than if I had to sit and explain myself regularly or on a phone convo. I sing to inspire. Whatever disability you have do not let that stop you from pursuing what you love. I love music, this is my best way of communication.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a very versatile artist. I rap and I sing. My way of creating Melodie’s touches people you will feel me when you hear me sing. You will feel my pain my story will touch you to another level, my sound is a mixture from few artists that I really love and enjoy for example (future, young thug & the miggos) mix with my Caribbean accent. I bring flavors to my songs. My style, my fashion is what set me apart from others. To get to where I’m at it was not easy, I remember I invested $500 to build my home recording studio. I can say without that investment I would not be where I’m at, to be able to record whenever is a blessing I got better and better every time I turn on the mic in my little room that’s how I perfect my sound. It was not easy. Some days I wanted to give up. Putting out records and after records and not getting the amount of money to put behind it to push it can be very discouraging, hoping a record label will pick you up. While these days it’s not like that, can be very discouraging. I had to use every penny I had to invest on myself buying beats shooting videos trying to push my career. Those days when no one believed in you, I had to believe in myself m, I had to tough it up. Knowing I got me, I will not give up until I reach the finish line. And this is what got me to where I’m at today. Along the way I learn many lessons: do not let people use you. Know your worth and believe in yourself. I want the world to know me as someone that built like a rock strong and courageous super creative when it comes to controversy ideas and fashion my music heals every songs I ever sings is a story of my life something I been through or experience. Do not judge me for my look or my style instead If you want to get to know me don’t come close to me just listen to my songs and you will know it all.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from miami so I like outdoors activities. First I would take them to the HYDE RESORT ROOFTOP there’s an amazing view there which I think a lot of people don’t know that place. Would go there for lunch sitting by the infinite pool and enjoy the view. Next day we would go to VISCAYA GARDEN for another adventure that place is amazing so much to explore a very nice place to take pictures and create memories. Next day would definitely visit AVentura mall

For a little shopping. Can never go wrong with buying new stuff lol. Next day we would definitely go to THE FORGE One of my favorite restaurant in Miami Beach.
Visit the strip of south beach, a week definitely not enough but last I would go to bayside for a little boat ride adventure and also jet skiing. I do not drink so we probably wouldn’t be going clubbing. Lol

So my type of fun are out door activities. So we would definitely have a blast visiting these exciting places.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
BLASTMUSIC he’s been with me since I started my music career. We started singing in church till this day he support me and always been there for me through thick and thin. So yes big SHOUT OUT to my boy BLASTMUSIC.
