We had the good fortune of connecting with Daya Reg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daya, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson that Journalism and content creating has taught me throughout the entire process is to to always stay true, authentic, and honest to myself and people out there! No matter the amount of followers, money, or likes, you should always stay true to yourself and show people who you really are as a person!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Although I am a junior in college who is majoring in Journalism with a minor in Public Relations & Strategic Communication Management with a Sport’s Media certificate and works within her University. I do believe that my full-time job is creating and making Sport’s related content on social media platforms! I really put in so much time, effort, and a lot of research into what I share with people. It truly makes me proud that I’ve been able to meet, engage, learn, and build my platforms from the bottom to the top with so much hardwork, patience, and to my liking! Even though I still have a long way to go, I got to where I’m at now by creating a Formula 1 and Sport’s related platform in the Summer of 2023. During that I time, I truly felt like there wasn’t much on tiktok or much of a social media presence around the internet especially any fan based accounts, admits, or platforms. This led me to want to create my account so it could become a space for fans, a place for me to post content regarding F1, a learning experience with the sport where I could learn and inform, and a place where I could meet other motorsport fans across the world! Throughout this journey, I did experience a lot of hardships like hate and having a bit of a hard time creating my social media presence that did have a bit of an impact on the way I posted content and felt about myself. I genuinely felt scared at first to post any “hot takes” or opinated videos because I experienced a few hate comments and Dm’s that we’re very mean and targeted towards me. Even though hate is a process and con that comes with social media, I do feel like it definitely impacted me because I was very fresh and new to Formula 1, so me having the courage to put myself out there on the internet and receiving very hateful comments made me want to quit or stop posting content that maybe could have been controversial. But also, this was another stepping stone because I made a decision to have a social media platforms and presence even though I have never been a person who liked showing myself and personality off on social media. This had overall been a learning experience that I’m glad I learned at first because it has made me talking the camera, how I portray and presented myself, and my presence better on social media which made me less awkward and really allowed my personality to pop out! As well as, I feel like hate definitely shaped and gave me a bit of PR training as to how I reply and take it! While my social media accounts just reached it’s second birthday, I feel like I learned some amazing lessons like: Being absolutely consistent with posting, engagement, and activeness because if you aren’t, then you most likely will have a hard time growing your account and finding people who will support you. Secondly, I learned that putting in effort will take you a long way with your content and how people view your account! It doesn’t matter if you have 50 or 300 followers, show up for yourself and your account, it’ll help you build and show people what youre account is about! Lastly, I learned you have to be very patient! Yeah, you may not have 100k followers and a paid brand trip but your time will come and you must be patient and enjoy the process because your hard work will show soon! But something that I do want the world to know about my story and my brand is that I’m a dedicated and passionate women in sports who hopes to make an impact and change in the world with my love of sports! I want everyone to feel like they belong together and that they are just as capable!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely start out by taking a small trip to Marshalls, Sephora, Ulta, and Hollister! Or thrifting! Afterwards, I would probably try eating at Whataburger or Avocado toast from Dunkin! Then I would stop to get a Matcha from Dunkin or Starbucks! But if im feeling coffee then a banana bread latte at 7brew! Even though these are what some of my days look like, I feel like people should definitely check out thrift stores, Marshalls, and any unique matcha or boba shops!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A person that I would love to recognize and give credit for helping and being a part of my success is one of my Tiktok mutuals, Naomi Coronel! She is huge inspiration and help for one of my biggest insecurities, a healthy relationship and weight loss. She managed to be honest, authentic, and a true friend as I mentioned and talked about my struggles to her. Although our content and accounts are opposites, she was willing to become friends and a huge chapter in my life! Her
email is coronel.naomi.numi@gmail.com !
