We had the good fortune of connecting with Tae Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tae, how do you think about risk?
When I think about risk. I think about the outcome, if it’s beneficial to me to even want to take that risk. I think me having that “go getter” mind it allowed me to get where I am today In my music career. One day I woke up and said “I really need to stop playing and take my career more seriously, I have the talent, use it” me overcoming that fear and just taking a “risk” has allowed me to grace some of the most epic stages

So risk may not always be bad but again it is a risk and I’m grateful that I did take some of the ones I did.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It honestly all started when I was in the church chior back in my hometown Chicago. I knew then my passion for music was something that wasn’t temporary. I always wanted to be in the limelight and sing lead lol. Every since then I just always wanted to be heard and show my gift. I’ve grown so much from my technique and just overall energy. I use to be scared of what people thought about me and my voice etc. I had to realize that I do have supports and fans who actually have enjoy my music. This is what sets me apart. Most people are scared to go after their dreams but me… I actually did it and still am doing it!

It wasn’t always easy. It’s been times I didn’t think I wanted to even peruse music anymore. I always said (why am I not where I wanna be?, why can’t I be like this person etc) times I even took a break from music. So it’s all about dedication, keep that same strive and passion you had from the beginning and it will pay off. It was something I just had to pray about and ask God to keep me focused and keep doing what I love to do.

This year along just goes to show how much I’ve grown, how dedicated I am and how much passion I still have! I’ve had 4 gigs back to back on major stages and more coming up! I just can’t wait to see what’s in store for me because I know I’m time is coming and Tae Henry will be a household name!

One thing I had to learn along the way is that everything happens when it’s supposed to. Sometimes we get so caught up with wanting it right now but never understand if we really are ready… it’s not my timing it’s Gods timing. Sometimes that no just means something bigger is waiting. Patience is key.

I just love what I do. Singing helps me with so much including my anxiety. I’ve always had a hard time venting and espressing myself to people so I use to just write in my journal or notes and write music. Some songs I’ve written was just for fun and some was about my heartbreak and pain. It was more of a safe palce for me. Where I was free and not being judged. That’s why music will always be life!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it was a week long trip I would have to start off by visiting some of the amazing beaches we have in south Florida. I would start off at south beach just to get in some sun lol.. After I would have to go maybe have a drink and a bite to eat at alibis (their wings are amazing) its a lot to do here.

I’m a real big Italian eater so I love going to serafinas in ft lauderdale.

We can forget the amazing wynwood walls! Amazing art and good food. You have to check out dunkanoo jamacian spot!

The Hollywood boardwalk is another dope spot as well. Hundreds of shops and restaurants to go to.

Friday night is always a movie when going to club escape lounge. Great music and amazing vibes.

Sunday funday would be the end result! I love brunch so either Just Spoons cafe or palace is amazing spots to go to! Ending the day by going to haulover beach to enjoy good music and views.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s so many people I can’t hank for this journey.

Anthony Winn for allowing me to even grace a stage for the first time ever! That’s where it all started Stonewall 2019

John Buckley for giving me a platform and place to let my voice be heard.

My mom and dad for always being there for me and pushing me to continue going even when I wanted to give up

My brothers and sisters for dealing with my mess over the years and still holding me down and being some of my biggest supporters!
