We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayana Izquierdo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dayana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own design business was a decision fueled by both passion and opportunity. I was 21 when I began dabbling in drawing and designing, then gradually started developing a strong love for graphic and web design. I quickly realized that by starting my own business, I could not only do what I loved but also have the creative freedom to work on projects that truly resonated with me. Additionally, the demand for design services in the market provided a promising avenue for growth and success. So, I decided to take a bet on myself, confident that my skills and dedication would pave the way for a fulfilling career in graphic & web design.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I first opened up my creative business, I mostly focused on designing logos for small business owners, as time went on I started working with more established beauty businesses, where I was inspired to design modern, aesthetically pleasing content. Due to the high demand for website designs, I taught myself how to design a full website and began to design my clients’ sites. I take pride in my ability to seamlessly blend aesthetics with functionality, ensuring that every design I produce not only looks stunning but also serves its intended purpose effectively. The journey to where I am today professionally has been both rewarding and challenging. It wasn’t always as easy as it sounds, I encountered many obstacles along the way. But let’s be honest, growth is never linear and I am more than honored and grateful to be in the position that I am in today. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m not just a designer; I’m a creative partner dedicated to helping businesses and individuals bring their visions to life. I’m excited to continue my online journey, collaborating with clients and pushing the boundaries of design to create memorable experiences.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge foodie and I can not have a ‘best friend’ day without having our food spots reserved! First, we would have to have breakfast or brunch, my top pick is Bacon B*tch in Miami Beach because is it really Miami without a brunch spot in the middle of the day? Then we can spend the afternoon at the Frost Museum or take on my favorite ramen spot ‘Momosan’ in Wynwood. They offer the best fried gyozas, savory ramen, and mouth-watering pecking duck, it’s to die for. Then I’d seal the night watching a classic and eating popcorn at the Rooftop Cinema Club in Miami Beach or take a stroll down the Miami beach boardwalk. The perfect way to end the perfect day in Miami.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I owe it all to my family for their unwavering support and belief in my creative abilities. Their encouragement gave me the confidence to drop everything I thought was good for me to pursue my actual dreams as well as my fiance, who’s supported me from day 1 of my business and continues til this very day. Lastly, I want to acknowledge my clients, who entrusted me with all their design needs. From their logo designs to their websites, their diverse projects challenged me to continually refine my craft and deliver top-notch results!
