We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayanitsa Mauricia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dayanitsa, how do you think about risk?
I’m not afraid of taking risk, I really live by the fact that you only live once. When I started my business and decided to go to India I did not even have a business name or perfectly executed business plan. After India we came back with 10 kilo’s hair and the first thing I did was creating my first Facebook Page to let the world know I started a business . The bottom line is that you cannot wait for the perfect moment. Just be convinced that you can and will make it happen. Cause like Henry Ford said ‘Whether you think you can, or think you can’t. You’re right.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My unique selling point is definitely the fact that I’ve been to India in person. For me it was very important to visit the country of origin to do research and to meet my supplier and see, feel and inspect the hair before purchasing. Another unique selling point is that I am a licensed Cranial Prosthesis Specialist. I am authorized to create and bill medical wigs for customers whom are suffering hair loss. I am also very proud of launching my Natural Hair Care Kit for African American hair textures. When wearing Wigs or Weave it is very important to take care of your Natural Hair. Our kit contains 5 products, to nourish and grow your Crown. During our complimentary hair consult we will advise you how to use the products and create a Hair Care schedule. I got where I am today by working hard. It was not easy, but that is part of the job. I’ve overcome challenges by asking help/opinions from friends/family members and learning from my own mistakes. I’ve learned never to give up even if you feel like breaking down and cry. Besides this I also keep investing in myself by taking courses. It is important to realize there is always room for improvement. I would like the world to know that it is Be unbeweaveable’s mission to make every woman feel beautiful. Besides that I also encourage other ladies to expand or start their business by teaching wig making classes. It is such a fulfillment to teach my craft to others. I recently hired a Virtual Assistant , and it is great expanding the team with another woman.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born in the Netherlands and been living in Miami for a couple of years . So this is definitely a question I have to ask myself when friends and family members are coming over. The beach, South Beach, Ocean Drive and Lincoln road are definitely the tourist must visits. Besides these spots I will bring them to Wynwood, Midtown, Sawgrass Mills Mall and Sugar Cane for the best Happy Hour. A visit to the Sandbar is also definitely a must. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout definitely goes to Bella and Richelle, they are sisters from another mother and business women as well. It is amazing being able to level with such great minds ,talking business , encouraging each other while still having fun. Bella and Richelle are role models, motivators and such great inspiration. I’m happy they are in my life. Richelle lives in the Netherlands but we talk daily over the Whatsapp and we have our Mastermind every Monday. During this call we discuss our businesses. and our goals set goals.
