We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayra Cardoze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dayra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks has been pivotal in both my professional and personal life. This extends to my personal life, particularly highlighted by my recent move to Ciudad de Mexico. This move was risky and scary, but very rewarding. In the meantime I also successfully transitioned from being just a fashion designer to also being a stylist and closet consultant. Without a willingness to embrace risks, none of this would have been possible. Taking risks is a necessity to grow, explore new opportunities, expand my creativity and push the boundaries I put on myself through the years.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art lies in transforming how people feel about themselves by helping them discover and embrace their unique style through the clothes they already own. My ability to connect with individuals from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and professions through styling empowers them to feel confident in their personal style by implementing what they learn in my personalized styling service: Closet Rehab. Witnessing the positive impact that embracing personal style has on my clients, seeing them radiate confidence and authenticity excites me and fuels the passion I have for what I do. This passion I have for clothes and fashion makes styling more rewarding and comes really naturally to me.

My journey to where I am today has not always been easy. Most recently, it was especially hard to transition between career paths from designer to stylist. In order to feed my inner designer, I I keep doing collaborations with brands I really admire. However, through personal experiences, I’ve learned the power that clothes hold. They are a tool for boosting confidence and enhancing various aspects of life. Wearing the right clothes can improve not only your personal life but also your romantic and professional life, all by making you feel great. This realization has kept me excited and motivated. It drives me to help individuals recognize the transformative power of clothing in feeling great about themselves.

My goal is not only to inspire and guide people to use clothes as a tool to feel and look great, but also to alleviate the common feeling that they have nothing to wear or that they need an entirely new wardrobe to look good.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Given my love for good food, I would eagerly introduce her to a culinary journey at some of my favorite spots in Miami. Our first stop would be Krus Kitchen in Coconut Grove for their amazing agnolottis – a must-try! Following this, a visit to Walrus Rodeo for their unique carrot tartare. Lung Yai Thai Tapas, is a very casual spot, but one of my favorites for their amazing curry dishes. Tam Tam, located in downtown, is another gem offering fantastic Vietnamese food that never fails to impress. For some great cocktails and chats, Dante’s Hifi and Gibson Room are top picks. Of course, we’d have to hit the beach at Soho House and wander through the Design District for a bit of shopping fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has always been my rock and support. Throughout life’s challenges and changes he has always support every decision I’ve made. I believe I wouldn’t be where I am without him.
