Hi DeChelle, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
It can be challenging being a mother of a 12 year old, working as a senior account executive in media, and to add to that managing the day to day operations of LashBox By D’ar. It is certainly not ideal for someone who is not organized. You must be organized and have a healthy balance between work and home life. My advice is to balance your time and follow the SPPP formula I came up with while working from home during Covid last year. Strategize, Plan, Pivot, Period. Following those 4 steps, guarantees that you will see movement in the right direction

What should our readers know about your business?
LashBox By D’ar is a beauty company created in Miami for Lash Lovers who desire high quality cruelty free mink lashes. I grew tired of spending money on lashes that were declining in value, but going up in price. After constantly complaining about the lack of quality in Lashes, I stepped out on faith and created my own brand. LashBox By D’ar are “VIP LASHES FOR A VIP GIRL.” The purpose behind the brand was inspired by the radio girl on the go, who has a social lifestyle and can transition from work to nightlife high quality lashes in a matter of seconds. Diva’s are everywhere. We are business owners, executives, and hard working women, not just working 9 to 5’s anymore but most often, all hours of the day. We pride ourselves in feeling good and looking good. No matter what kind of stress we may be under, we refuse to show defeat so we’ll push on tired, but looking like we don’t have a scratch on us. My lashes make women from all walks of life who may be tired, feel empowered. I offer handmade, high quality, cruelty free mink lashes in 100% mink, 6D/3D Faux Mink and 25MM Mink. My 100% high quality mink lashes come in 5 different styles: The glamorous Mink, The Divine Mink, The D’ar Mink and The Elegant Mink. The LashBox Collection by D’ar also comes in 6d (dramatic lash lovers) and 3d (conservative lash lovers) . My newest edition to the collection is “The Suitcase Collection” which is near and dear to my heart. The Toya Suitcase Collection was inspired by my aunt who passed away from Breast Cancer and The Jackie Suitcase Collection was inspired by my mom who is currently battling liver cancer. One of the lessons I learned along the way is that success doesn’t live in a comfort zone. When you become uncomfortable or scared to jump out on faith that’s where the growing begins. One thing I always tell myself when I feel afraid to do something because of “Fear of Failure” is….WHAT HAPPENS IF IT REALLY WORKS. My desire to win is greater than my fear of failure and that’s what keeps me going.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would get us a room at The W on South Beach for the week and eat brunch at Mr. Chow’s. After that, we would spend the day on the beach and change clothes and get ready for dinner at Versace Mansion and stroll S. Beach and drinks at Wet Willies. Day 2- Perez Art Museum, Bayfront Park and Tour of Star Island and dinner at The Bazaar by Jose Andres. Day 3-go out on the yacht for the day and party at Club Liv, Day4-shopping at The Designer District and Aventura Mall and dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab. Day5-Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort and relax at Day Spa, dinner on the water and Swan for dinner. Day 6-hang out in the Wynwood district and attend bars and stores, Day 7-visit Art Deco Historic district and Collins Avenue

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I would like to Thank my lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is definitely the head of my life. I am grateful for my grandmother and my mom for being an example and teaching me how to be strong. I want to thank my supportive friends for their unwavering support and my sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. It takes a village and my support system is the backbone of who I am today.
