We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was laid off from Zillow on a taco Tuesday at 2:30 in the afternoon without warning.

I wanted to continue doing what I love – sales, content and business strategy but on my own terms, or rather at my own house, a loft.
Creating The Sales Loft allowed me to invite the world in to my home, where I could teach you to sell anything as YOURself. Inside of my loft, I want you to get cozy and make money

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Sales Loft is a sales, content and business strategy house for Entrepreneurs and Creators. Our custom systems and content drives sales and conversions. It’s all done-for-you.

I chose to turn my Zillow layoff into a layup 🏀. In our current economic climate, you can a job today and none tomorrow. I bootstrapped an organization to help Entrepreneurs but also empower others to take a bet on themselves.
It’s not easy, launching and running a business in New York of all places, but we need to remind ourselves that you can figure out any “how” in your life if you have the “why”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born in Kingston, Jamaica but I’m such a proud New Yorker. New York is crazy, but it’s truly one of a kind.

Spring and Summer is all about Long Island. From the beaches and outdoor dining, you can’t catch me elsewhere. I lived upstate and Oneonta is the most beautiful in the Fall.

But Manhattan, the city, is all year round. Hudson Yards is truly my favorite around the holiday season for all the lights and seasonal winter cocktails. I’m a huge 5th Avenue girl – from the 230 5th rooftop in the Summer for drinks to shopping at Louis Vuitton uptown. I’ve visited a ton of places, but when it comes to New York there really is no place like home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
