Meet Denise Serrano | Founder & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Serrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We continue to bring awarness around the modern fashion industry’s waste. Promoting more ethical and sustainable fashion habits and practices by continuing to rescue luxury excess materials and reuse these materials, through our circular fashion design strategies. We commit to decrease our footprint regarless our love for styling by building fun and versatile upcycled wardrobe.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
BA in Advertising/Marketing and Public Relations, as a Creative Director I developed my career and worked for numerous advertising agencies, design studios, art galleries, fashion magazines, and luxury brands such as Christian Lacroix, Givenchy, Missoni, Etro, Moschino to name a few.

Since very young, I have always been attracted to art in all its forms, and fortunate enough I’ve been working in the Art and Fashion fields since a long time. It’s truly my passion.

In 2019 we founded with my business partner (Fernando Chang) R-Fitting Room with the mission to bring awareness around the modern fashion industry’s waste and give back to environmental causes.

At first wasn’t easy, people was not fully aware of sustainability nor about circular fashion. We had to overcome some challenges, specially educating people in changing their perception about the evolution of the fashion industry (people though we were just crazy). It took us roughly like about 1 year of hard work and perseverance to convince people that we could minimize our carbon footprint and transform the way clothes are designed, and be guided by our values to R-think, R-design, R-purpose.

Since then, our mission has been not only to raise awareness on the global textile waste and its detrimental impact, but also to create strategic partnerships with international designers and design schools by bringing sustainable circular fashion through their work, and promoting their creativity and innovation from one of a kind designs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Check out what Miami, our city, has to offer during that time visiting some Art Galleries, Museums. Enjoying great food at my favorites restaurants Mandolin Aegean Bistro, Le Zoo Bar Harbour.
Hang out and drinks at Joia, Swan, Strawberry Moon and The Living Room at Faena, The Standard & Soho House.
and definitely just Relax on the beach ;)))
