We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Destiny, what role has risk played in your life or career?
You definitely have to take risks at times to get ahead. Of course it can be challenging but even in life there are things you have to do you don’t necessarily want to, to accomplish things. I’ve learned to just take it in stride and know it’s for a greater good.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I model and work with multiple brands across my social media platforms. At first it was not waste trying to gain attraction from brands and companies, and a lot of times I wanted to give up until I found the key to it all; be yourself. Instead of trying to appeal to a brand I had to be myself and be comfortable in the skin I was in. A lot of brands are truly searching for authenticity and not all the glitz and glamor that’s shown nowadays. Staying true to myself gave me the ability to be transparent when dealing with companies which is so important.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ponce City Market is definitely a hidden gem in midtown Atlanta with a great rooftop view that I love as well as Piedmont park. Piedmont park is such a relaxing place wether you go alone or with friends it’s a great place to clear your mind, catch up with friends, or play a good game of basketball. Candlelit Atl is a great experience to enjoy making your own candle and sip a great glass of wine while doing it. And of course the aquarium is a wonder within itself with all its aquatic wildlife.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The driving force for me to begin my entrepreneurship and career is entirely thanks to my late sister DaShae Churchill. She was light in any room no matter how dark it was. She often encouraged me to do what makes me happy no matter what anybody else says. Over the years I’ve taken her words to lead me in the direction I was always meant to be on.
