We had the good fortune of connecting with Don Jon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Don, every day, we know how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
At 21, I was in search of myself—navigating the push and pull of college, odd jobs, and real life. I bounced between Orlando and Los Angeles, absorbing everything around me. From the energy of the cities to the characters living boldly and unapologetically, one word kept resurfacing: Bold.

My mentor, also named John, became a mirror of who I aspired to be—20 years wiser and one of the boldest individuals I’ve ever met. He didn’t just guide me; he studied me. Understood my rhythm, my potential, my essence. There was a spiritual depth to our bond. For the first time, I could speak freely to someone older and successful without feeling dismissed by my youth. Our conversations felt timeless, like meeting myself in the future.

One day, he designed a phone wallpaper for me—three words he believed captured who I was becoming: Boldness. Expressionism. Greatness. It wasn’t just art. It was a tool to rewire my subconscious.

Those words stuck with me. But instead of forcing meaning, I let life lead. I searched for how to channel that boldness—my outlet, my language, my voice. Then it hit me in LA: DJing. That was the vehicle.

At 22, I found myself going head-to-head with DJs who had a decade of experience. I knew I had to move fast. When COVID hit, the world slowed down—but I didn’t. Back in Orlando, I locked in. My house became the only one in the neighborhood where people could gather, and it just so happened that most of my college friends were learning to DJ, too.

That’s when The Bold Collective was born.

From that moment forward, my mission was clear: transform everyday people into DJs. Create platforms. Build opportunities. Inspire others to live a life they didn’t know was within reach.

The Bold Collective Entertainment Group is the evolution of that mission—a movement grounded in boldness, fueled by expressionism, and driven toward greatness.

Every artist is deeply attuned to their environment—we’re wired to feel energy on a different frequency. We walk into a room and sense the pulse, the tension, the potential. We read the unspoken.

When I talk about energy, I’m referring to the sum of one’s experiences. It’s the emotional residue that shapes your outlook on life. Are you radiating positivity or negativity? Are you honest about the energy you bring? Because it’s not fixed—we have the power to transform it.

As artists, our role is to translate that energy into something conscious, something moving—something that inspires others to connect with their truth.

What I’ve learned along the way is this: most people won’t understand your expression. Many won’t even care.

And that’s the loneliest part—expressing your deepest self without an audience.

But that’s not the point. The point is to do it for you. Create what you love. If it moves you, it will move others. Don’t chase validation. Don’t make art for the algorithm.
Make art for yourself.

Pushing through means hours, months, even years of solitude—crafting in silence while the world moves on.

Mastering your outlet—mine being DJing—was a quiet, intimate journey. It demanded isolation, discipline, and complete focus. I had to protect my time and energy like sacred currency.

Because staying focused is hard. Being intentional is harder. And doing both in a world full of noise?

That takes one thing above all else:
It takes being BOLD.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
John Cooley – Owner/Founder of Keys International Security

If not for John, the fork in the road would’ve led me somewhere else—down a path I know wouldn’t have aligned with who I truly am.

He was a pivotal figure in my life.

What some called delusional or unrealistic, John called bold and authentic. He saw my truth before the world did—and made me believe in it, too.
