We had the good fortune of connecting with donnell dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi donnell, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue a career in music, because it was very dear to my heart. I always felt at ease while making music, and did it was many year, recreational before I decide to pursue it as a career. I was once told, find something you love doing, and try to make a living with it, and that stuck with me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey started as a rapper but quickly blossomed in to producing and engineering. I went to The Recording Workshop in Ohio after interning for a year in a studio off music row, in Nashville, Tn. I work hard and never stop learning! But my biggest quality is giving back! I’m always passing what I’ve learned on to others as well as mentoring artist and producers thats new to music. Working independently always has its challenges but I stay striving to network and make new connection to further my career
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s a Indian street food restaurant in Ponce city market(Atlanta, Ga. ) I love going to. Apache cafe is also I spot of enjoying going to see live performances from indie artist in the city!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Most definitely Johnny Bonner!!! He set me on my path toward learning everything I use to succeed with my day to day.
