We had the good fortune of connecting with Dori Mckearn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dori, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?

Sure, I grew up as part of a large family. Our home was always active and usually filled with kids, grandparents, relatives and friends. I think so much of my passion for real estate derives from my love of family and friends, which taught me what home is really all about.

I was brought up with time-honored values like honesty, hard work and living by the golden rule. I was also raised to be “down to earth” and to treat everyone equally and with respect. These lessons never seem to leave you and in fact only grow stronger the longer you live by them.

I’ve also been involved in creative photography and interior design throughout my career and have published and exhibited my work at many shows over that period.

My husband and I have also been privileged to travel the world and have been to many exceptional and exotic places both as recreation and as part of operating our international businesses.

In general, I have passion for life, love, art and color. These things are the foundation of my individual life, relationships and of our creative and business endeavors.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

First, I always treat my clients like respected friends and my profession as a serious business.

I’m the sole owner of my firm and have also been co-owner of several other enterprises with revenues up to $10.2 million and where I have always specialized in key accounts. I’ve learned that a successful business requires hard work, persistence and a laser focus on delivering maximum value to the customer.

I never forget that it’s only about me to the precise extent it offers value to them. Our marketing totally reflects that core understanding.

My clients and I take what can be understood as a complex and at times emotional journey together. As the agent, I serve largely as a guide. It’s most definitely a business that’s built on very human relationships, which happily for me, have typically culminated in friendship and mutual respect.

My experience and certification as a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) has proved invaluable in helping me to better serve seniors and their loved ones in locating more appropriate housing and in making related life transitions.

I also focus hard on some of the special issues associated with the unique needs  of women. Many people don’t know that women make or influence 91% of all home buying decisions and guide 94% of all home-furnishing purchases. Fully 64% of all residential Realtors are female and single woman over 55 are the fastest growing demographic of home buyers.

Surveys also show that many women feel much better heard and are more comfortable working with another woman.

It’s been said that women are the “CEO’s of the home.” In my business I treat them accordingly.

I find that my male clients appreciate similar treatment along with the fact that I’m knowledgeable regarding numbers, finance and can offer advanced negotiation skills.

Clients seem to like my old fashioned Midwestern values of doing what I say I’m going to do, going above and beyond and doing whatever it takes to maximize results while always striving to make their lives as easy as possible. They also seem to appreciate the fact that I keep them well informed and communicate with them in the ways they desire.

We’ve developed our brand to communicate what we actually deliver, seasoned professionalism, credibility, integrity and advanced business and financial acumen, all culminating in real estate guidance they can fully trust.

I’ve also learned that quality real estate services require the agent to first build a serious and somewhat complicated business infrastructure and to do that in combination with the required resources, technology and networks. This foundation is essential.

My marketing efforts have been nicely enhanced by calling on my career long portfolio of artistically oriented and exclusive fine art photography. You can view this on my real estate website link below as well as my Instagram real estate site under the Highlight button “Living Here”

Finally, I’ve learned that my client’s home is quite often their most significant asset or expenditure. I treat that fact with the greatest respect in everything I do.

This requires very specific knowledge along with a wide range of skills and is really what it means to be a true real estate professional.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

There are so many places to see here in Juno Beach but first on the list is the beach at the Juno Beach Pier. You can hang out all day long, sunning or surfing. Or bring your dogs along and let them play in the ocean. Spend a $1 at the pier entrance and join the other assorted fisherman for an opportunity to catch some of the best fish around.

The Loggerhead Marine Life Center is just a few blocks down and is focused on ocean and sea turtle conservation. You will fall in love with the various types of sea turtles floating around in the open tanks, many of these have had surgery to recover from ocean accidents or illness. The gift shop has a wonderful selection of trinkets, t-shirts, toys and artwork to browse through and take back for friends and family.

There are wonderful shops, restaurants, hotels and cultural events to choose from in Juno Beach as well as Jupiter so stay for a few days to take it all in.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I would like to give a Shout Out to my husband, John D. Mckearn as he is my biggest supporter, my mentor, my companion and the love of my life. His early background is as a psychotherapist, then as President and CEO of behavioral health care companies.

We became involved in the direct import business working together side by side, he as the President and CEO and me as the VP of national sales. We established ourselves in the home furnishings business as an MID Company, (Manufacturer, Importer and Distributor) and for many years traveled all over Asia.

We designed our own furniture and accessory products and brand, showing our lines at wholesale trade shows all over the country and selling to the top national furniture companies as well as the high end design trade.

We merged our business with our business partner ‘s company and grew it to $10.2 million in 2 years.

John started a non-profit company for seniors in 2020 called Palm Beach Treasure Coast Elder Planning Council after I became a Realtor specializing as a Certified Senior Real Estate agent (SRES).

PBTC ( Elder Care Planning Council ) was set up to assist seniors and their families in their time of need. He provides direct services pro-bono then refers them to other council members who are experts in such areas as elder law, personal finances, care givers, geriatric care and of course senior real estate.

John’s extensive business experience has been a primary factor in our real estate business where he does the executive management, marketing and public relations.
