We had the good fortune of connecting with Dorry Santiago and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dorry, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Great Question. The most important thing I have done as a parent was to follow my heart and passion and take myself to the best version . If I did not pursue my dreams i would be disqualifying myself and therefore my children would not be impowered to follow there happiness quotient.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I very possibly answered most of this this in the previous question. What sets me apart from others, I do my best to stay focused on my relationships, being authentic, honest,
What I’m most proud of is the ability to help and guide people to home ownership or releasing a home or building their wealth through investing for their future , that really is my business,
If your looking for one defining moment it would be the fact that I passionately wanted to see Keller Williams have a presence in Key West my beloved Island home.. I knew the brilliance of this company and the training and I could visualize it helping the next generation of Realtors on the Island and eventually through the Florida Keys. It took me almost 4 years to accomplish this goal, as I pioneered Pioneering this personal achievement. The Market center opened 2017 during a Hurricane!!!
It has continued to be a very successful Business. I was able to do this and other accomplishments, such as starting an expansion Team with my Hub being in Ft Lauderdale and spoking out from Key West to the Panhandle of Florida because of the systems and models created by Gary Keller and the never ending opportunities in this company and yet running our own business as we see fit, really quite incredible.
Lessons I learned, Stay focused pay attention to details keep relationships in the forefront and love on your people. Never stop learning, be able to Pivot when needed..
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fortunately living in Ft Lauderdale there is never a dull moment! First, I would take my BFF to the top of the Pier 66 ( waiting now for it to reopen and enjoy the magic once again) the view of all of Ft Lauderdale from there is a first stop. Then a water Taxi ride and diner at any one of the hundreds of amazing retardants, lets see Europa on Las Olas for grilled Octopus and fine wine, or Heritage for unique entrees like squash blossoms, -micro greens Red butter lettuce salad, and then to the Parker playhouse or Hard Rock for a concert. next day could be one of the incredible pro spots teams Hockey =Baseball =Football=soccer. Or take in a play at the Broward Center for performing arts. Perhaps a museum or art exhibit, On a calm day the Fish may be biting or just a ride in the boat.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow … well I have always had mentors regardless of the business I am in. To stand on the shoulders of Giants and see the vision and keep growing. My past life was in the Beauty Industry, with my late Husband John and my 2 children Francesca and Anthony. We would constantly travel to New York and my Son taught globally, We would learn from the fabulous members of a group we belonged to ‘Intercoiffure’ some of the best group in the hair industry from around the world. We then would bring back our knowledge to Key West, where our businesses where at the time, and master our craft.
As time went on My husband became ill and we sold our business and moved closer to his Doctors and his Family. After his passing I could not continue in the beauty business with out him by my side after 32 years. So I had to make a change.
I was introduced to real estate by a client and friend named Vicki Read. Who is a Rock Star in Real estate. She brought me to Keller Williams where the trajectory of my life changed. I was in a company that was like none I had ever experienced. The Culture, the training, the opportunities and the God, Family then Business motto was mind blowing again I had mentors such as Alan Waxman, Shaun Rawls, Richard Bass, and the ever present Gary Keller in books, events and training.
