Meet Dr. Ilene Cohen | Licensed Family Therapist & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Ilene Cohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Ilene, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I hope that by counseling people, I can help them grow more into themselves.
Maturing can allow people to live more from their values than on autopilot. I believe we create a better community and world by taking a closer look at ourselves and asking ourselves if we are genuinely living based on our principles or automatically reacting to the world around us. The more thoughtful we can be in our lives, the better we are to show up for our community and loved ones. My books and articles help people think differently, and when we learn to see the world in a new way, we can be more respectful to ourselves and those around us. We currently live in a very anxious world, and that anxiety is contagious. When we are anxious, we are more likely to behave in patterned and unhelpful ways. I help people understand their patterns and learn to make different, more valuable choices.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a marriage and family therapist and author. I am most excited and proud of my private practice and books. I genuinely enjoy what I do, and it never gets boring. I am grateful for my clients, and I value that I can do what excites me. I got to where I am by studying hard and always being open to learning. My family has also been excellent support for my education and work passions. Of course, it has not always been easy; I overcome the challenges by accepting the process and understanding that good things do not come easily. I don’t want an easy life; I want a meaningful life. I have learned that it is worth following your heart, it’s not all about money, and that a meaningful life is so important.
My work is highly influenced by this way of thinking, and I am grateful for being a part of this community of thinkers.
