We had the good fortune of connecting with Elanese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elanese, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue an artistic and creative career because I’m a firm believer in following your heart. I always tell people that life is too short to waste it doing something you aren’t passionate about. Of course, everything in life is about balance and working hard at anything means there are going to be moments you have to do things you’re not super excited about, but ultimately if you have a calling I think you should tap into it and follow that instinct. No matter the obstacles, things that are meant for you always have a way of working out. I’ve been singing since I was a little girl and music is the thing I love most in the world. It’s the universal language. It can touch so many people in so many different ways regardless of their backgrounds and I think that’s beautiful. I chose to pour my heart into what I love to do.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m an R&B/pop artist from South Florida. I’ve been singing since I was a little girl and music has always been my passion. Singing has presented me with a lot of opportunities that I’m super grateful for and I love that I can truly express myself through music. I’ve always dreamed of being able to travel doing what I love most. I’ve performed internationally, I’ve been on national television, I moved to Los Angeles, I’ve released my own original music, and these were all things I used to fantasize about doing when I was younger. Of course it hasn’t been easy, and anything in life worth doing involves challenges. I really try to emphasize the importance of mental health, especially in an industry that involves being open and vulnerable, musically and privately. Being an artist is hard but when performing and entertaining is your calling its something that will always be apart of you. I’ve learned to follow my heart, to be adaptable, and the importance of always being true to myself. I want the world to know they can do anything they put their mind to. I also want to remind people to be kinder to themselves. I’m super excited to release new music and continue to relate to people. If I can touch one person or make someone feel less alone in the world, it’s all worth it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a South Florida, the first place I would take anyone is the beach. I love the beaches here, I think they’re some of the most beautiful in the world. I also love going to Wynwood. I think the arts district and is so cool and I love to take pictures with the buildings. Before Covid the nightlife was also great, there were plenty of places to dance and I can’t wait to go back to that.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my parents, Denise and Joseph, for always being understanding and supportive of me and my career. I have the best family and I’m grateful for them always.
