Meet Elizabeth Fabars | Newborn & Maternity Photographer | Pediatrician Behind the Lens

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Fabars and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business wasn’t just a decision — it was born from a deeply personal experience. As a pediatrician and a mother, I’ve always been passionate about caring for babies and preserving the beauty of early motherhood. But it wasn’t until I had to cancel my own daughter’s newborn session that everything truly changed for me.
That day, I was recovering from a C-section and in a lot of pain. I didn’t have anyone to help transport me, and I had to let go of the dream of capturing those first, irreplaceable moments. It broke my heart. That experience made me realize how many mothers go through something similar — wanting to document their baby’s early days, but feeling physically and emotionally overwhelmed.
From that moment, I knew I wanted to be the photographer who would make sure no mom missed out on that memory. That’s how MiaBettina Photography was born — with a mission to offer not only professional and artistic photography, but also compassion, flexibility, and home service for newborn sessions. I wanted to be that gentle presence who understands what a new mother is going through — because I lived it too.
Now, every time I walk into a family’s home or welcome them into my studio, I remember why I started: to turn pain into purpose, and to help other moms preserve the moments they’ll cherish forever.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the founder of MiaBettina Photography — a boutique photography business based in Miami that specializes in newborn, maternity, and fine art portraits. But it’s much more than just taking beautiful photos — it’s about telling a story, capturing emotion, and preserving moments that will never come back.
What sets my brand apart is the combination of professional artistry, deep empathy, and medical knowledge. I’m a certified newborn photographer and a pediatrician by profession, so parents feel safe and confident knowing their babies are in expert hands. I also offer at-home newborn sessions — something I felt called to do after I had to cancel my own daughter’s session due to postpartum pain and lack of transportation. That moment stayed with me, and now I make it my mission to ensure other mothers don’t miss out on their memories.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. I started from scratch in a new country, with a dream and no guarantees. I faced financial limitations, fear, self-doubt, and the pressure of being a new mom while building a brand. But every challenge became a lesson — I learned the value of consistency, the power of showing up even when no one’s watching, and the importance of staying true to my “why.”
I’m most proud of the trust families place in me. When a mother cries seeing her baby’s portraits, or tells me I made her feel beautiful and safe — that’s when I know I’m doing something meaningful.
What I want the world to know about MiaBettina Photography is that it was built with love, pain, sacrifice, and purpose. It’s a brand for families who value authenticity, safety, and timeless memories. I’m here not just to take photos — I’m here to serve, to connect, and to honor life’s most sacred moments through my lens.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Miami for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the perfect balance of culture, relaxation, and unforgettable moments — the real Miami vibe!
Day 1: Welcome to Miami!
We’d kick things off with brunch at Greenstreet Café in Coconut Grove — the energy, the people-watching, and the Nutella French toast are iconic. Then we’d walk around the Grove’s cute boutiques and grab a coffee at Panther Coffee.
Day 2: Art & Culture
We’d head to Wynwood Walls to soak in the art, grab lunch at Coyo Taco, and of course, take some fun photos. I’d also take them to Little Havana for a cafecito, live music at Ball & Chain, and a stroll down Calle Ocho.
Day 3: Beach Day & Sunset
We’d spend the day relaxing in South Beach with a cabana rental, enjoying the ocean and people-watching. Later, we’d go to Monty’s in Coconut Grove for drinks and a sunset view — so laid-back and fun.
Day 4: Miami Design District & Rooftop Vibes
We’d explore the Design District — it’s stylish, full of inspiration, and perfect for a photo lover like me. At night, dinner at Swan followed by rooftop cocktails at Sugar in Brickell would be a must.
Day 5: Nature Escape
We’d go kayaking or paddleboarding at Oleta River State Park, and maybe do a mini picnic. It’s a peaceful break from the city buzz. Then back into town for dinner at Mandolin Aegean Bistro — beautiful ambiance and delicious Mediterranean food.
Day 6: A Day in the Keys
We’d do a road trip to Key Largo, snorkel at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, and enjoy fresh seafood by the water. It’s a dreamy mini getaway within a getaway.
Day 7: Chill, Shop, and Reflect
We’d sleep in, then do some shopping at Aventura Mall or Brickell City Centre, followed by a relaxing spa afternoon. For our final dinner, I’d pick Casa Tua — romantic, cozy, and the perfect ending to a magical week.
Miami is full of culture, flavor, and personality — and that’s what I’d want my best friend to feel: the soul of this city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to give all the glory to God.
Without His guidance, strength, and grace, none of this would be possible. He has been the light in my path, the peace in my chaos, and the source of every blessing in my life and business.
I also want to dedicate my deepest gratitude to my mother. Her strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love have been my greatest inspiration. She taught me resilience and the importance of pursuing your dreams with faith and perseverance.
To my husband, who has supported me unconditionally — emotionally, physically, and in every little moment behind the scenes — thank you for believing in me even on the days I doubted myself.
To my amazing clients — thank you for your trust. And to my community of fellow photographers, thank you for lifting me up with kindness, support, and shared passion.
Every person who has been part of this journey holds a special place in my story. I wouldn’t be here without you.
