We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Bache & Abigail Breslin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily & Abigail, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For us as best friends and business partners risk has always been vital. It’s led to starting our blog, The WanderLust Girls and shortly after our company that offers wardrobe styling and consulting. It also has allowed us to travel the world! When opportunities arise we never hem and haw. We trust our instincts and move forward when others may hesitate or overthink. We’ve always been “yes” people. We will try just about anything once and if we love it that is just something else we can offer as a brand. After one year of blogging we were approached by the VP of Design at Playboy. She said she loved how we styled ourselves on our blog and wanted us to style an ad campaign for Playboy. We had never done wardrobe styling before! Instead of waiting till we got enough experience to work with a major brand like Playboy, we said yes! The risk paid off and we continued to style for mega brands, like Elizabeth Arden, MLS, Bloomingdale’s, SNL and Nabisco. Our general rule is – say yes, take the risk, figure it out as you go along and if you love it do it for as long as you can!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our brand is truly based around our friendship. The biggest compliment we can get isn’t about what we are wearing, but that they feel connected to us or joy from the content we create. We’ve always shared a fun and edgy sense of style and living. Think tutu’s and ACDC mixed with Dumber and Dumber and Tequila. When it comes to styling our aesthetic is rock n’ roll. We can make even the stuffiest of clients feel like they’re on tour with Axl Rose. It really is all about making the person feel confident!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Spend your entire day and night in East Nashville! Start off by grabbing a bourbon spiked cup of joe at Barista Parlor. Spend a day vintage shopping (Black Shag Vintage, Anaconda Vintage, Starstruck Vintage.) Grab a record at Grimey’s. Grab some delicious food at Two Ten Jack. Finish the night dancing at the American Legion Post 82 (Tuesday nights.) Late night head to The Crying Wolf for some whiskey.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Not only did the then VP of Playboy, Rebecca Szymczak give us a break that lead to forming our company she also became one of our biggest mentors and best friends. It’s important to find a mentor in your industry. She has continued to inspire, educate and promote our brand throughout the past decade. To find someone who feels like family in New York City is such a valuable thing.
