We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Kaczur and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, how do you think about risk?
Taking calculated risks while considering potential rewards is crucial for crafting a successful career. During my early twenties, taking chances felt intimidating, sparking a fear of the unknown in me. But once I overcame this fear and started viewing my apprehensions as an opportunity to learn, I truly blossomed as a new business owner. I’ve gained confidence in balancing the risk/reward ratio and evaluated risks accordingly, always keeping in mind how these actions will benefit my company. My approach involves investing time in plenty of planning, research, and preparation, ensuring the best possible outcome for myself and my business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being an artist is something that’s always come naturally to me. But it took me some time and discipline to really connect that gift with people in a way that had meaning. What sets me apart from my peers is my consistent focus on my clients and their needs. Through my practice of altruism, I’ve been able to form deep and meaningful connections with people that have turned into long-term relationships.
Of course, it’s not always easy to make people happy, and it can bring a lot of disappointment if needs are not met. Figuring out the needs of others can be challenging and sometimes exhausting. I’ve learned how much to promise and what results can be achieved over time through experience. Hearing how someone else handles a situation can be eye-opening, and it’s important to have good mentors who can give you sound advice.
Ultimately, I came to realize that only I can determine how far I go in life, and asking for help along the way can make a big difference in achieving my goals. Having the right support system is hugely important for any business owner. Life can throw many challenges our way, and having people who understand and support us can make all the difference.
That’s why I choose to connect with positive-minded people who share my values. I find that building a symbiotic support system is key to maintaining a healthy and fulfilling life. Meditation and practicing gratefulness is a daily practice for me to reframe my mind and think more positively.
My brand, EK Beauty Boutique utilizes the motto, “Stay Lovely” to remind us all of our innate beauty and perfection. Life experiences can make us feel like we’re different from the souls that we were born as, but at the core, we are still that same, lovely being. My umbrella company, EEK Altruism LLC reflects my desire to live an altruistic lifestyle, serving people in that way while treating my craft as an art form.
I used to approach my work in a more transactional manner, but I soon realized that I had to eliminate that mindset and focus on building relationships with clients who valued our time together. I found that by putting energy into making my clients happy, I never felt like I was taking anything from them that couldn’t be returned in some other form. Life is about connecting our skills with the people who can benefit from them, and owning a beauty boutique has allowed me to do that in a way that enriches not only my life but the lives of others.
I’m grateful for my journey so far and the lessons learned through facing challenges head-on. It hasn’t always been easy, but I choose to focus on the best parts of each experience and find joy in everything I do.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to the wonderful mentors and supporters who have helped me on my journey in the hair and makeup industry. Cathi Schilson, Karl Hein, Andy Dugard, Anthony Miller, and Reina Kendall have all played vital roles in shaping me into the stylist and make-up artist that I am today.
Cathi saw something special in me as a young stylist, which led to countless opportunities for growth and success in her salon. Karl’s integrity and guidance taught me the essentials of running a successful business. Andy’s unwavering support and encouragement gave me the chance to thrive behind the scenes in makeup for Palm Beach events. Anthony’s support helped me invest in the salon space that is the foundation of my career today. And Reina Kendall helped drive my motivation to be social and graceful.
Last but certainly not least, I want to thank my clients who have inspired and motivated me each day. Without you all, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am truly grateful for your unwavering support and for making me a better stylist and artist. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
