Meet Ervin Palacios | Direct from Go Latinos Magazine – Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ervin Palacios and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ervin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I worked at a newspaper El Vocero Hispano in Michigan for 9 years, during that time, I acquired a lot of experience which helped me understand the importance of being able to help the community through information, when I moved to Florida I saw that it was a great opportunity to start, together with my wife Bertha Lopez, a community magazine but bilingual, Spanish and English. That’s how this project started.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Go Latinos Magazine, is a bilingual magazine in South Florida, founded in October 2014, I founded it with my wife Bertha Lopez, the beginning was very hard because of every 10 doors we knocked on, 12 closed, but with a lot of effort and work, we continued working, we sacrificed family time, weekends, family events to go cover local events, do reports, take photos, in the end, little by little the community became aware of the magazine and acceptance began. My wife and I, along with the magazine, have been recognized twice with proclamations by the Miami Dade Public Schools. During these 10 years we have written many stories that have touched our community, we have grown with our community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Without a doubt, I would take him to the Everglades National Park, so that he can discover one of the best treasures we have in the area. I would take him to eat at Cevi.che 105, I love the food there, I would invite him to have a drink of Ron Flor de Caña, a rum that I enjoy very much and we would spend a good afternoon at my house, as a family man I am very home and I enjoy being with my wife and dogs Selene and Sophie.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt my wife, Bertha Lopez, for me she is one of those miracles – strokes of luck that life gives you, my family who have always been by my side but above all, always in the not so good moments, they have always supported me, a special mention to Andres Abreu (editor) and Haydee Saladin (director), of El Vocero Hispano Newspaper of the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Andres and Haydee helped me train as a professional, with their help and advice.
