We had the good fortune of connecting with Evian Clutch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evian, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I have a strong belief in what my parents have been doing for the past 40+ years; sharing health, wellness, and prosperity with others. By carrying on their legacy, I become a bridge between generations, continuing the work that has positively impacted many lives.
One of the qualities I want people to remember about me is my commitment to doing what I am truly passionate about, helping people to improve their lives in all aspects; physically, mentally and financially. I want my passion to not only fuel my own success but also to inspire others to follow their own dreams, embrace new beginnings, discover new paths, take calculated risks, build, fail, learn, and succeed. My father always taught us to find something that we would even do for free. Something we enjoy and have a drive to do, and that never feels like a job. Just like they did!
My legacy is one of empowerment, resilience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in this world.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 1978, my parents were introduced to Shaklee, the company we represent today. Shaklee is a nutrition company with a history of over 65 years. Dr. Shaklee, the founder, created the first multivitamin and plant-based protein in the United States. It is the most clinically tested wellness company which has helped fuel athletes to 146 Olympic medals, provides nutrition to NASA astronauts, created the First Earth Day Products, and was the First Climate Neutral Company. We have products lines for nutrition, body and home. And we own over 70+ patents/patents pending.
Going back to 1978, my mother was attracted to the possibility of solving a skin allergy that had persisted since childhood. After her success in reversing her skin condition and experiencing so many other positive changes, my father decided to try the products as well. He started with the foundation of a multivitamin and a protein. In less than 30 days, he started feeling more energy, sleeping better and experienced many other health improvements. Shortly after, they decided to build a Shaklee family business because of the strong belief in the products. It’s easy for us to share something we love with others so why not get paid to do it? For the past 40+ years we have continued the company’s mission of bringing true wellness to the world by helping people meet their own nutrition goals and to live a healthy lives.
I was a “Shaklee baby”, I used the products even when I was in my mother’s womb. I worked in their offices while I was studying until I graduated with my MBA and joined the Financial Industry. After working for 20 years in some of the largest banks in the world, performing my work as an International Relationship Manager / Financial Advisor, I decided to accept the opportunity to join their business as a partner and continue their lifelong career with Shaklee. We are now continuing to grow an organization which today proudly bears the name “Eagles New Generation”.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Coral Gables! For shopping, walking and relaxing I always visit Merrick Park. I enjoy having lunch there, my favorite restaurants for lunch are Mariposa and Bazille; and for dinner Sea Grill. I also like their movie theater, if we want to watch a movie that is our first choice. For watching sports and having something to eat/drink I like to go to the Yard House.
I love dining on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. My first choice is always Hillstone, for Mexican food, Talavera is wonderful, Spanish food, I like Bulla Gastrobar, their sangria is amazing! Baires Grill, Salumeria 104 is also really good. I also love to go to Books and Books Courtyard Cafe to have a glass of wine while enjoying their live jazz music on Fridays.
Visit the Venetian pool because is part of the history of Coral Gables.
Coconut Grove is definitely worth visiting! We love to go for a walk, have dinner or lunch and have ice cream at Salt & Straw. Some of my favorite restaurants in the Grove are Jaguar and Sopre di Mari.
I love the beach, and my favorite spot during week days while everyone is working is South Pointe in Miami Beach and I like paddle boarding in Key Biscayne. Bill Baggs Cape State Park area is a fun place to ride bikes.
I like walking in the Design District and spending an afternoon in Wynwood. Visit the Wynwood Walls and stop at any of the restaurants there or eat ice cream.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this article to my parents, Angel & Evelyn Torres, the pillars of our family and the foundation of our business. They have worked extremely hard and along the way have helped thousands of people improve their lives. Their tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and relentless pursuit of success have shaped the path I proudly walk with them today. I feel so much love, admiration, and respect for them.
I carry with me their legacy and the invaluable lessons they have imparted. Since I was a little girl, they took any opportunity to teach me valuable tools that have been instrumental in my education and life. They taught me to believe in myself, to dream big, to learn to be brave and make decisions without fear of failure. They taught me to never give up, knowing that falling down is part of the process, and that it would make me stronger. They always emphasized the importance of having a purpose in life and to enjoy every minute that God gives me to the fullest. To live a life based on values, and to follow the golden rule. Always respect and have compassion for others. Understand that honesty is a quality that distinguishes you as a human being for the rest of your life and to always give your best.
With deep gratitude and profound respect, I pledge to honor their hard work by striving to continue their mission of sharing health and wellness. This dedication is a testament to their sacrifices and serves as a reminder of the responsibility I bear as I carry their torch into the future.
