We had the good fortune of connecting with Eylismar Bastardo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eylismar, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
All my life I have been in love with art. I think the best way to express myself is through art, whether it is listening to music, dancing or doing makeup, and it is that with just an art show you can express more than with words.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently in the world of makeup and creation of beauty content for social networks. My love for makeup was born from a very young age, but it was always like a hobby for me, until a year ago I decided to open an Instagram account and publish my work. From the beginning it was hard because I felt that I was competing with the other makeup artists who had many years of experience and academic training in the world of beauty, while I only had 3 brushes and an eye palette, but I decided that that would not discourage me. Currently I only have 1,700 and I have managed to work with more than 50 makeup brands, I am fulfilling my dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Anzoátegui, Venezuela. I have many beautiful memories going with my friends to the cinema in Plaza Mayor and Puente Real, also going to El Morro to hang out and to the “Cangrejo” beach to have fun, this would definitely be my perfect week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The main person I must thank is my grandfather, since he, being an artist, made me fall in love with this world. Also to my parents, my brothers, my boyfriend and my friends for always supporting me to follow my dreams. And last but not least: to my followers, because since I decided to publish my first makeup they were there supporting me.
