Meet Fabiola Trujillo | Sobe Tan by Fabiola

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fabiola Trujillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fabiola, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to do something different in beauty, back in 2000 there wasn’t anything going on about spray tanning, I had a personal necessity of being able to be tan but my skin was always very difficult to get a tan and I was just getting more freckles every year and then the first skin cancer arrived, actually was at my dermatologist office where I saw this magazine where they were describing how this woman got her first airbrush tanning, it was called like that because it was done with an airbrush gun, now we use powerful guns, the ones they paint cars with 🙂 I am an aesthetician graduated in Colombia, South America and loved everything about beauty, so I embarked into this new venture, had these people come over to my house, brought me a machine, some product, they airbrushed me and they were gone. That was the starting of this beautiful journey.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started doing spray tans back in 2000 when they were not known at all, and I had a special connections to this beauty service cuz I have always loved the sun but my skin doesn’t love it that much, I have had a few skin cancers removed so to be able to have a tan without a sun was like a big discovery for me, I know self tanners were out there already but the difference in spray tans and self tanners done at home are like night and day. I just love what I do and what this beauty trick is just amazing what it does for confidence, it is like body make up that lasts a week. It wasn’t easy at the beginning cuz not many people knew what this was, and products weren’t as amazing as they are now. What I have learned is that giving up easily is not a choice, we have to stick to our passions and what we want in life and that is the only way to make it happen. What I would love to tell the whole world is to stop using tanning beds they are so bad for your skin, and I am in the process of developing a very clean tanning cream and tanning juice to use at spray tan salons that I can’t wait to share with the WWW

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OMG Miami has so many amazing places we would never stop South beach has a lot to offer, I would never finish this interview if I have to talk about all the stuff to do but very quick OCEAN DRIVE, it is now a pedestrian street so super fun, stop by la Cerveceria, Mexican place. best margarita and guac LINCOLN ROAD, so many places to eat there MIAMI BEACH, you have to go to the ocean and the best spots are south of fifth that is all south in south beach WYNWOOD in Miami is awesome!! visit Wynwood walls Visit JOIA BEACH, right next to JUngle Island, the best new spot to visit
