We had the good fortune of connecting with Filippo Bonfiglio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Filippo, is there something you believe many others might not?
That stability is not always the best thing. I feel like sometimes we need to leave our comfort zone and chase our dreams. Take our risks and believe in ourselves! My MBA in finance taught me a lesson: “no free lunches in wall street”… but i also left everything behind, accepted the loss of the $$ invested in my education to be who i wanted to be and do what i wanted to do! Happiness is priceless and stability is not necessarily what makes you happy. Maybe it is something you can get used to, that can make u comfortable, but that does not always translate on happiness!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I try (and I don’t necessarily want to say that i succeed in it) to mix my italian taste with the colors and the sceneries of the locations where i shoot (mainly Miami and LA). But My main effort is directed often towards creating a location or a context that os other then where i am. I don’t want to be too Miami when in Miami.
My biggest accomplishment is or will be being able to produce images that are recognizable, that who sees them and knows me, sees me in my images! I don’t know if i achieved it or not. This is something that the others will have to decide.
In any case I don’t feel like i have accomplished everything, i think that my journey just started. It is not an easy journey but it is a lot of fun! You should be patient and enjoy it. If you work hard you will get there

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would just suggest to go out enjoy south beach and play it by ear, eat where and when you want and go wherever the day or the night brings you. The beauty of Miami is that there is always movement and always something to do. You just need to stop planning and just go out and let the city do the rest! Miami, the Beach or Brickell, you will find something to do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It is difficult to identify a single person. Several played a role in my career. My family for sure. They wanted me as an executive in corporate america and they really helped me towards that goal… i cannot be other than grateful anyway! Sergio Tuve, a master of photography. I learned from him a lot. Many other photographers and of course my friends, but also many models and brands that helped me grow and still help me grow!
