We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Rosario and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriel, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Anybody can take amazing photos, but connecting with your subject is the most important skill a photographer can have. Eye contact, assertiveness, making them laugh, encouraging them toward intimacy. A photographer must be able to make anyone feel beautiful and special.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When you’re an entrepreneur just starting out, the ‘no’s are overwhelming. Surrounding yourself with an encouraging group of fellow newbies, friends, and mentors is the only way to survive. As boring as it might sound, following a routine creates balance and certainty. I’m almost infamous among my friends these days for NOT taking pictures. Photography is my passion but it’s important that I focus on other things as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course it’s all about South Beach. It’s the epitome of Miami culture – the beach, the restaurants, the clubs, even the tourists.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Scott Baker was my mentor and partner when I was first starting out. Thanks to fate, luck and hard work, I am a working photographer – but it all started with him.
