We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Salazar Andrea Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriel Salazar, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting our own company really happened when we found out we were having a baby. We want him to understand the value of working for yourself and to see his parents doing something they love. I have worked with my family for years doing event photography & videography along with editing. I have always wanted to branch out on my own. We decided to create O. Motion Productions which is a full service production company dedicated to producing content using the highest quality technology. Our goal is to provide superior service to our clients in both business and life events. We can create a beautiful project out of anything a camera can do. We are always looking to set a great example for our son. This even includes our company name. The O is for Oliver. We want him to be proud that his parents are taking the initiative to be entrepreneurs.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Gabe’s creativity began at 15 when he picked up his first guitar in Ecuador. After moving to America at 22, he learned English and began playing in local bands. He still writes music and plays lead guitar for a band called Escape the Brain. He has also been working in his family’s company doing photography & videography for events for a number of years. He has a great eye and can tell a story with his imagery. We wanted to start a production company that does both corporate and lifestyle projects. I love working with people and discussing how we can help them, especially if it is something we have not done before. I have always been in marketing and sales, which helps make us the perfect team. Gabe is the artist behind the camera and I am the voice out front cheering him on. Together we bring our projects to life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends come into town for a week we stay local. We love everything downtown Fort Lauderdale has to offer. We would take them for a bike ride to the beach stopping along the way for drinks at Riverside Market. We also enjoy the Fort Lauderdale Artwalk. If Escape the Brain is playing, you would find us at places like Original FatCats & Lulu’s Bait Shack. A few other places we love to bring people to are Bar 27 where we had our first date, Doc B’’s, Sistrunk Marketplace, Tap 42, and Invasive Species Brewing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We dedicate our shoutout to both sets of our parents who are successful entrepreneurs in our local South Florida market. Seeing them work hard has really helped shape us as people and instilled the values in us to make O. Motion successful.
