We had the good fortune of connecting with Gehan Castellanos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gehan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that my entire career has been defined by risk taking. Before starting my career at Beyond Beauty Talent, I remember working for a modeling scout many years back, a colleague told me. If there is something you want to do or be someplace in your life, but you feel scared or doesn’t seem right, it’s probably the best idea to go for it. Go for it and don’t look back. You have to love what you do and do what you love. That stuck with me. No matter what the outcome is, I will just go for it full force whatever the outcome might be. I don’t look at failing as a setback but a learning lesson.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started as a talent/ influencer about 17 years ago. When I moved to Miami 10 years ago, I applied at different agencies. They either rejected me or never heard back from them. I started my own agency. There was many challenges first no director wanted to give me a chance to be an agent or work on any castings. I started looking for small jobs just to get my name out there. There were times where I work 70+ hours without getting any bookings. As you know we only get paid commission for projects we book. I believe we have come a long way in such short time. We are at a stage where we won’t go out looking for projects back projects come to us. I work very closely with my talents, Not only am I their agent but their friend and mentor. I will guide you to be the best version of you and work with them on how they can book projects.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Miami. I would definitely take them to some of my favorite spots which are, Chica, Juvia, Red steakhouse all in Miami/Miami Beach and my favorite family restaurant would probably be Battubelin. Which the owners are great friends and very hospitable. I love to go to design district. I love to people watch.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to the agencies that rejected me as a talent but gave me the courage to start my own agency Beyond Beauty Talent & Beyond Kids talent agency and to give others the opportunity to follow their dreams with my help. I would also like to give a shoutout to all of my talents who believed in me and kept encouraging me to be the best agent with their help and as we grow together.
