We had the good fortune of connecting with Genavieve Villar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genavieve, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe risk is part of the foundation of growth. Every major moment in my life and career has come from taking a chance — even when the outcome wasn’t guaranteed.
Opening my first boutique, pivoting to fully custom designs during Covid, investing in real estate at a young age, even growing my family during busy seasons — every step required faith over fear.

For me, risk isn’t about being reckless. It’s about betting on yourself even when the path isn’t clear yet. It’s about trusting that hard work, resilience, and heart will carry you through whatever comes next.

Taking risks has taught me that sometimes the greatest rewards come from the moments when you’re most unsure, but you move forward anyway.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the risks I was willing to take — and I’m grateful for every single one of them.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fashion has always been my art form. It’s how I tell stories — not just mine, but the stories of the women who wear my designs. What sets my work apart is that everything I create is fully custom. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, made to celebrate the woman wearing it — her beauty, her confidence, her moment. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all fashion. I believe every woman deserves something created just for her.

Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy. I started nearly a decade ago with a small boutique, hand-picking collections for women in my community. Over time, I realized my true passion was in designing — in actually bringing visions to life.
Covid brought major challenges. The boutique world was changing, foot traffic slowed, and for a moment, I didn’t know if my dream would survive. But what stayed strong was my custom work. That gave me the courage to fully pivot, restructure my business, and pour everything into designing custom clothing. It was a risk — but it ended up being the best decision I ever made.

On a personal level, I also battled through my own struggles — facing multiple miscarriages while trying to grow my family, all while holding my business together during uncertain times. It tested me in ways I can’t even fully explain, but it also made me stronger, more determined, and more grateful for every blessing that followed. Today, I’m proud to be a mom of three amazing boys, a wife, a designer, and a real estate investor — all by the age of 29.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned are to trust your instincts, to stay true to your passion, and to be willing to adapt when life forces you to. Growth often comes disguised as hardship.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple:
We create more than dresses — we create moments.
Every piece is made with heart, intention, and the belief that women deserve to feel powerful, beautiful, and one-of-a-kind.
This isn’t fast fashion. This is art — and it’s deeply personal to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d have dinner at Hillstone, one of my favorite spots for amazing food and a great atmosphere. After a little time in Miami, I’d take them down to my house in the Keys for a few days to really unwind.

We’d start our mornings with breakfast at Doc’s Diner, spend the day relaxing by the water, and if we went out for dinner, we’d go to Hobo’s Café for something casual and local. One night, we’d do a sunset boat ride with wine and cheese — the perfect way to slow down and take it all in.

Simple, beautiful, and the perfect mix of city energy and island peace.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to two very important groups: my husband and my incredible clients.
My husband has been my biggest supporter from the very beginning — believing in me on the days I questioned myself, encouraging my dreams, and standing by my side through every risk, late night, and new chapter. His love, patience, and sacrifices have been a huge part of my success, and I’m forever grateful.

I also owe so much to my amazing clients. Every woman who trusted me to bring her vision to life helped build the foundation of my business. Their trust, loyalty, and word-of-mouth support have been everything. Without them, none of this would be possible.

I am where I am today because of the love, support, and trust of the people who believed in me — and I carry that gratitude with me every day.
