We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Dacosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It kind of found me in a way. I have always be the creative kind and I say more creative than artistic. Always figuring out how to put things together to make whatever it is I’m looking for but can not find. coming up with things in my head and then figuring out how to make it. I grew up with a creative Mom who was always crafting something or making something herself to save money. As an adult I started to do the same. Then when COVID came along and the world shut down it became more. As we were crafting through the days to help keep my youngest daughter entertained our supplies began to dwindle. The unknown at that time kept us from not wanting any extra spending unless it was necessary. Home schooling with my daughter proved to be difficult especially as we were in the process of testing her for ADHD. I was unable to leave her side very long without her calling me for help with her school work. I decided to just sit with her the entire time beginning to several patriotic wreaths with whatever supplies I had left. That evening on a whim I ended up posting them to social media for sale in the chance that it could at least help restock our craft supplies. To my surprise, all five wreaths sold in four hours and I had orders for more!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a gifter at heart. Always on the look out for that something with a little bit of extra to it that just makes it the perfect gift for someone. It doesn’t have to be anything big or expensive either, it just has to be intentional and thoughtful. Giving someone an item that has a more personal touch to them lets them know how thought of they are and that is worth more than money can buy. That is what I like to put in to most of my custom made items because when you do, it shows in the work! I also like to make people smile and laugh! This world gets too heavy at times and everyone could use a break from it once in awhile. So I like to come up with funny gift items that say what many are thinking but don’t say to lighten up the atmosphere around us! I try to keep our home and holiday decor items unique too, making each one a little different. It is boring when you have the same door hanger or wall sign as your neighbors and friends do. We are unique as people, so our our gifting and decor options should be to!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Flagler Beach is such a quaint little beach town with several great locally owned shops and restaurants! A few of our favorites are Break-Awayz for dinner and then maybe something sweet from the delicious Surfside Shakes! In Palm Coast a visit to the European Village is always fun too! You can grab a delicious dinner from Mezzaluna’s, walk across the courtyard afterwards to get a drink at Cork & Pint while relaxing outside listening to the live music in the center of the complex. Stopping in to Pisces Nutrition to refuel with an energy is always a great visit too, they have such a great vibe in there for all who visit! A trip up to Historic St Augustine is always a must as well!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
You know what they say…. it takes a village! Top of that list is, My Mom! I was the youngest of four kids so more often than not if there was a project she was working on, I was helping her. Watching her all those years I learned so much. Then as I started doing my own stuff she was my biggest cheerleader, best person to bounce ideas off of and a great customer too! She encouraged me to put my work out there more for people to see and pursuing it more as a small business. So I did and in the first holiday season I surpassed all expectations that I had for it. Shortly after that my mom passed away and its been the biggest struggle for me in my life so far. Thankfully my husband has been a huge supporter for me and this endeavor that allows me more ‘Mom” time with our children. I am very fortunate to have a group of such supportive friends as well; especially Erica, Stacie & Danielle who are always looking to utilize my items for their gifting needs as well as my friend Teresa that lets me display them in her Nutrition Club. A shout out to Jose too for connecting you with me, I see you friend and appreciate it! I am blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
