We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Grandchamp Milan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea behind the project came from an employee who unfortunately passed before she could see it off the ground. We were talking about how many children and teens really had no place to go after school to partake in extracurricular activities because it was difficult to find the right fit for those who are neurodiverse. Most places and activities are not equipped or trained to deal with situations that may arise while with a neurodiverse person because of lack of training or exposure to such clientele.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Speech Language Pathologist who likes to see my patients thrive in all environments. In my twenty years of practicing in private practices, hospitals, and adult nursing facilities I always felt like there could be more than what I was doing, but never knew specifically what I could do to make the most impact. Now that I am taking on this new project I am excited to make a greater mark than that of just your typical one on one therapy situation. It’s going to allow these patients to generalize information they’ve been given on a one on one and small group session to real life which is the main goal of therapy- to apply the skills attained to everyday situations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I truly love living in South Florida and I would say that there are too many spots to name, but one area that is a must-see is the design district. I love seeing the different shops and restaurants. In terms of food, I’d definitely have to take note on the types of foods they would want to try since there are so many options from all over the world to choose from. One thing about me is that I never have or can pick a favorite (haha). I just have to go with the flow of how I feel that day and if you know me well enough you’d know we would have a great time anywhere.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Autism Project in Rhode Island- This is where my employee gained knowledge of the program and when I was ready I reached out to them for ideas and information as to how to go on with the project in my employee’s memory.
Silvana Massolo and Blanca Gonzalez of the Bloom Agency for believing in the project and for their on going support with the Marketing project.
