We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Ulmos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a parent, I’ve strived to create an environment where my two daughters feel supported, empowered, and loved. I’ve encouraged them to pursue their passions and interests, providing guidance and being there for them every step of the way. I’ve tried to instill important values like empathy, resilience, and kindness, hoping these qualities will shape them into compassionate individuals. Ultimately, I aspire to be a positive influence, guiding them toward becoming confident and capable adults ready to take on the world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What makes my gig in radio and journalism stand out after 23 years? Well, it’s like this—I’ve been in the game for quite a while, clocking in 16 years at Univision and cruising through the past 7 years at iHeartRadio. Born and raised in Mexico but rooted in Miami, I bring a spicy mix of cultures to the mic.
I guess what sets me apart is my knack for blending experiences from both worlds. It’s like having this dual superpower that lets me connect with folks on a whole different level. Plus, I’m all about riding the waves of change in the media scene. Staying flexible and jumping onto new platforms is my jam, making sure I’m always vibing with what the audience wants.
I started as a copy writer at Univision.com and now I am a Rario Personality with tons of experience in my backpack.
At the core of it, I’m all about spinning stories that resonate. Mixing diverse backgrounds with a passion for storytelling—yeah, that’s what puts my spin on this wild ride in radio and journalism.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The beach, hands down. Any day, it’s my sanctuary—a slice of paradise where the sun-kissed sands meet the endless blue. Calle Ocho would be a must too. I love the mixture of Latin culture around South Florida. One of my fav spots is “Calle Dragones” with live music and a fusion of Asian and Latin food.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Numerous individuals have significantly impacted my life, starting with my mom. She embodies relentless determination, constantly envisioning and pursuing her next goal or project. Her ceaseless activity keeps her busy and full of vibrant energy. I firmly believe in the importance of having goals and plans for the future; they provide direction and motivation to keep progressing.
