We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni Sairras and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giovanni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to serve people with criminal backgrounds who needed the support to be able to safely and effectively reintegrate back into their communities following their incarceration. I believe everyone make mistakes; therefore, everyone deserves a second chance at life, especially those who have committed offenses when they were a juvenile and if it was their first criminal offense.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder and executive director of Re-Entry One Inc. A non-profit, grass-roots organization serving returning citizens who are returning to their community after incarceration. Our organization provides free clothing, food, hygiene products, healthcare services, Employment services, housing assistance, mentoring as well as legal aid services.
I also own a consulting company, Primoracle Consulting Services, LLC, providing training services to private prison operators. I also manage the careers of multi-platinum recording artists through this consulting firm among other small business consulting services.
I overcame many life challenges by practicing mental fortitude, temperance, humility, and patience. These three life principles are key to living a successful and stress-free life.
I am most proud of the fact that I was able to achieve my goals and dreams within one year since my 17 years of incarceration. In addition to this, I am able to give back to the less fortunate communities through the charitable work that I do with my non-profit.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is that given a second chance, people can change their lives and overcome any challenge as well as impact the lives of others in the process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When people think of Miami, they normally think of South Beach or Miami Beach but much of the magic that goes on in Miami happens within mainland Miami and not on Miami Beach Island. So if one of my friends were to visit Miami, I would invite that person to Wynwood to experience the club scenery of Miami. Then we would take a tour through historic Overtown to learn about the rich Black history of that area. I also like the rich cuisines of places like little Havana and Little Haiti. So we would definitely patronize those the beautiful restaurants in these areas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes. I would like the to dedicate much of my success to my mother for her unwavering support. Two inspiring books that I would like to recommend I, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, By Robert Kiyosaki and “Think And Grow Rich” By Napoleon Hill.
