We had the good fortune of connecting with Gloria Salazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gloria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There were very few options for learning the plumbing trade. I had the Contractors who had workers who wanted to advance themselves in the plumbing industry and wanted new options. I also had a lot of individuals contacting to inquire how they could learn the trade. I realized I had the 2 key components to meet their needs and decided to create the Plumbing Contractors Association Apprenticeship Program.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Plumbing Contractors Association was founded in 1952. Our first President was Alexander Orr III, Vice- President was H.L. Robertson and Secretary was W.L. Pennell.

The nature and objects of the Association:

1.) The sponsorship of more modern, adequate and safe plumbing
2.) The advancement of sanitation and the education of the public concerning sanitation.
3.) The continuance of suitability in employer-employee relations in the Plumbing Contraction Industry.
4.) To carry on institutional advertising, public relations programs, and promotional activities for the good of the public and the plumbing contracting industry.
5.) The furtherance of apprenticeship standards and activities.
6.) The encouragement of laws relating to sanitation and the better enforcement thereof.
7.) Educational activities relating to the Plumbing Contracting Industry.

Since 1952, the Plumbing Contractors Association has carried-out its mission. The key to Plumbing Contractors Association’s success is the professionalism, experience, expertise and comprehensive training and activities available to its members. Today, the Plumbing Contractors Association main office is located at 7204 SW 48th Street Miami, FL and currently has over 60 members from Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Throughout its history, the Plumbing Contractors Association has held membership meetings at our facility located in Miami-Dade county, thus showing that the association’s long and fruitful history and that it expects to remain a critical part of the Miami-Dade construction industry. The Plumbing Contractors Association has a long and successful history and expects to live up to it for a long time to come.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success of our program is due to everyone involved. We have our Committee, our Instructors, our Participating Employers, each and every Apprentices and the partners in the Plumbing Industry who provide so much support.
