Meet Gregory Arneaud | Respiratory Therapist and Caribbean Advocate for Sleep Apnea Awareness

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Arneaud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gregory, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The motivation behind starting my own business stemmed from the recognition that Sleep Apnea is a global epidemic, affecting over a billion people worldwide. However, given my Caribbean heritage, with my parents being from Trinidad and Tobago, I realized that there is a significant lack of awareness, education, expertise and even solutions to this problem in this region. Despite its direct links to the leading causes of death in the region including, heart attacks, strokes and diabetes, many people – including those within the medical fraternity – remain unaware of the serious implications untreated Sleep Apnea can have on every aspect of your health and how it can affect the quality of life and even increase mortality risk.
Realizing this, I felt obligated to bridge this gap and make a difference in the lives of Caribbean people by bringing more awareness to the concerns related to snoring and untreated Sleep Apnea. Even through what I’ve observed with the experiences of my own family, I saw it necessary to be a beacon of light in this area as there was an urgent need to provide the education about this issue and make solutions more available and accessible to the Caribbean where so many people suffer from this disorder.
This passion, along with the information and experience I’ve gained as a Respiratory Therapist, became the driving force behind this mission. So, what began as a local initiative in Trinidad and Tobago, has now expanded to other Caribbean countries, and is now the premier company providing Sleep Apnea awareness, testing and treatment solutions throughout the region.
I truly believe that it is my divine purpose and calling to make a lasting impact by educating and empowering individuals to address their sleep health in order to improve their overall well-being.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Thirteen years ago, when I started my business, Sleep Telehealth Medicine was a brand new concept and definitely unprecedented in the Caribbean – especially in specific terms of providing online services and telehealth consultations. I’m humbled to know that many companies today, now follow this prototype that I introduced and created, which involves driving people to fill out forms online, scheduling consultations and under-going at-home sleep testing. It’s truly gratifying to know that I was the first to introduce this approach to the region.
My primary goal has always been to make a difference in people’s lives by providing knowledge and solutions to the issues that affect them and the organizations they work for. Ultimately, hope to be remembered for the lives that were saved, relationships that were restored and the quality of lives that were improved because of my efforts. Knowing that this could be my legacy is incredibly fulfilling.
The journey has certainly not been easy. It has taken a lot of hard lessons, tenacity, discipline, consistency and deep determination to overcome the challenges and to keep going. As it is for anyone embarking on an entrepreneurial journey, I’ve faced some low points; but what keeps me going is knowing that every day, I’m helping people sleep better and, by extension, live better.
This journey has also led me to write a book – and being an author is something I’d never thought I’d be in my wildest dreams. I aimed to make it timeless, blending humor with facts while incorporating a bit of my personal story and most importantly, providing the education and awareness needed surrounding the importance of good sleep health and bringing recognition to the prevalence of sleep disorders, which so many people are unaware of.
Ultimately, I want to be remembered as someone who genuinely cared; sacrificing other opportunities to ensure that this mission was realized. Most importantly, I glorify God in all that I do, knowing that through this work, I have been able to care for others and make a lasting and impactful difference in their lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a big Miami Heat fan since 1988, if I had to show a friend around, I’d definitely take them to experience a Miami Heat game – being a major basketball enthusiast and player myself – and to introduce them to the energy of the city. Miami is known as the city that never sleeps – there’s always something to do, whether it’s exploring the vibrant nightlife or enjoying the beautiful beaches.
I’d also take them to experience South Florida, which truly offers the best of all worlds. It’s like a melting pot of cultures, where you can experience a blend of different peoples, cuisines and traditions. And let’s not forget the amazing weather and entertainment that makes South Florida such a unique place to live and visit. The vibrant lifestyle, diverse cultures and endless activities are definitely what I’d want to share with anyone visiting Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I had to give a shoutout to an experience that has contributed to where I am today, I would say it was being laid off from my last job at Watermark Medical. This was the first time in my career I had ever experienced what it felt like to be “laid off” and it truly served as a pivotal moment that propelled me toward entrepreneurship.
Aside from the fact that I promised myself I would never give anyone the opportunity to make me feel that way again, the experience made me realize my true potential and worth. I saw how much I could help others and how much knowledge I had gained through my work in Respiratory Therapy and Dura Medical Equipment Sales. I knew I was capable of offering so much more, especially to those who were in dire need of it.
I’m also deeply grateful for the discipline and tenacity I had developed during my service as a U.S. veteran. I believe this experience helped shape my mindset and contributed to the lifestyle of service I now live, guiding me to where I am today.
