We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Wiser and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what are you inspired by?
I’m deeply inspired by moments of synchronicity and serendipity; those moments that seem to fall into place in a way that’s greater than I could have planned for. Moments like: strangers meeting and becoming friends, when someone you’re thinking about calls you at that exact moment, or visiting places for the first time that already feel like home. We spend our whole lives attempting to plan for things, but I’m starting to realize that many of life’s greatest joys are completely unexpected. They just can’t be planned. I’m forever inspired by the idea that there are life-changing moments I’m going to live, people I will love, and places I will one day call “home.”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Have you ever had an idea keep you awake at night, tugging at you, asking you to act on it? That’s how it was with Womaze, the app I co-founded with my sisters and our mom. It was 2018, and my sisters and I were feeling trapped in the “comparison spiral” of social media. Scrolling on social media often left us feeling drained, and we were excited by the possibility of creating an online space that would leave people feeling supported, seen and hopeful. Enter Womaze: a “toolbox for life,” offering tools for self-care, body image, relationships, and many of life’s challenges. We send out daily Push Motivations: messages of love and support that always seem to arrive at the exact right time. It’s been three years since we launched Womaze, and we’ve been blown away by the impact it’s had. In the midst of the uncertainty caused by the global pandemic, Womaze has been an invaluable resource and source of support for people dealing with loss, going through life transitions, and experiencing anxiety, loneliness, and depression. The honest answer to how we arrived here is that we put one foot in front of the other, asking ourselves, “What is the next best step?” If we would have thought too much into it, we would have let doubt stop us. I was only 16, and my sisters were 20, and none of us, including our mom, had any startup experience. But we knew that if we didn’t pursue Womaze, we’d regret it for the rest of our lives. When people see Womaze, my hope is that it’s a constant reminder that somewhere out there, there’s someone who is sending them love, one message at a time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best spots to eat in South Florida: Love Life Cafe (get their vegan pizza), Farmer’s Table (get their chocolate cake!), and yogurt emporium (everything is amazing). The best spots to walk around: Mizner park, Delray Beach, Spanish River Park, and Lincoln Road. Fun things to do: Ice Skating at Panthers Ice Den, a visit to the beach, go to Barnes and Noble and get some books, and have coffee at the Seed.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my co-founders and family. I co-founded Womaze with my two sisters, Becca and Leah, and our mom, Corin. I learn from them every single day and making them laugh is my favorite thing in the world. Family: thank you for believing in our shared mission and for reminding me who I am and what I’m made of, especially when I forget. Also, a huge shoutout to our dad, Sam. We couldn’t do any of this without you and I’m eternally grateful for you and the love you bring into this world.
