We had the good fortune of connecting with Harry Blustein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harry, how do you think about risk?
I’m not a gambler; however, I have risked it all at times for an opportunity. Some have paid off, whilst many have not.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m extremely proud of our creation – HARRY BLU’S® – An Original Miami Handcrafted Gin. We are a handcrafted delicacy in a bottle. We only have ten ingredients. However, our gin is extremely complex. My passion is to share our creation with every adult on the planet. Moreover, my wish is that this spirit take them to their happy place. A happy place can be on a beach, in Dubai or in Singapore. Where ever it may be for that individual. The creation of this spirit was about a ten year culmination for me. It was not easy. It was a roller coaster ride along the way. However, I put my life experience together with ingredients that meant something to me personally in the bottle. We went to market on March 18, 2020 during the pandemic of COVID-19. Traditionally, spirits are introduced at bars, restaurants, and lounges. Therefore, we were forced to pivot to retailers. Asking an independent liquor store to carry a new product is a daunting task. However, through a close friendship, we were afforded our first chance at a shelf by the end of March that year. Total Wine & More then allowed us to enter their family in May 2020. We rapidly raised through the ranks to finish in the top five SKU’s in South Florida. We would like for our consumers to know that we have a passion for what we make. There are not cut corners. Nor any attempts to provide anything other than the very best!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
South Florida has many exciting places. If I had a friend in town we would have a meal at Mesa Mar in Coral Gables. Then we would walk around Miracle Mile & Merrick Place. We would spend an afternoon at Bay 13 Brewery taking the breeze. We would hit La Tropical in Mid-town. We would also take in the nice shops and walk the area. Finally, we would hit South Beach to visit The SETAI Hotel for an afternoon of fun in the sun. If we had some time left over, we would head over to Naples.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This particular venture could not have come at a more needed time in my life. I would like to thank our consumers for supporting us and supporting local – HARRY BLU’S® – An Original Miami Handcrafted Gin. Total Wine & More for putting us on the map. My family for always being by my side through thick & thin. And last but not least, my two greatest advisers Marc & Orlando for being invaluable!
