Meet Henrique Franhani | Filmmaker, Actor, and Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Henrique Franhani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Henrique, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil for the first 14 years of my life. I have been living in the United States for the past 8 years. My upbringing in Brazil is definitely something that has greatly impacted the person that I am today. I feel like growing up in Brazil, and then moving to the U.S., not only gave me a greater perspective in life, but it also showed me the importance of knowing about cultures and how they can differ from country to country.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Through my films and work as an artist, my goal is to be able to tell compelling stories that can inspire others while entertaining them. I believe what sets me apart from most artists is that my focus is on the story that needs to be told, and on the best way that we can make this story come to life on the screen. What I am proud about my work is that, no matter how it turns out, or how it is received by an audience, I know that I did my best. If it fails it isn’t because I was not dedicated to making it the best film that it could be. I got to where I am professionally today by working hard on as many projects and with as many people as possible. It was definitely not easy to do so, as at times you may work in really great productions, but at other times be in bad productions. However, it was because of this variety of productions that I now know the good and the bad sides of filmmaking.
What I want the world to know about me is that I see movies as more than entertainment. They are windows through which we, as an audience, are allowed to look and see something new, discovering new stories and perspectives that have never been shown before. Therefore, my brand as a filmmaker has the objective of delivering new perspectives through stories that the world needs to see.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had my best friend coming over to Orlando for a week, I would obviously take him to the theme parks for the majority of the days that he would be here. However, since I am a local, I would actually try to show him some spots that many tourists don’t know. I would definitely take him to the Historic Downtown Winter Garden for us to grab something to eat while enjoying the sites of this beautiful centennial city. I would also take him to the Orange County Regional History Center in Downtown Orlando, in order to check out their exhibits. Then at night we could attend a show at The Doctor Philips Center for the Performing Arts.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to Jesus Christ because He has been guiding me throughout my life, and it is through His strength that I can accomplish the plans that He has for me. I also want to give a shout out to my parents who are my biggest supporters ever since I have started my filmmaking journey.
