We had the good fortune of connecting with Ingrid Scheer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ingrid, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to start my own business in the culinary field. The art of cooking always caught my eye and inspired me. Being able to create a gourmet dish from staples in your pantry is motivational; it goes to show that you can make something out of anything, it all just depends on how you want to make it. I’d always love making food for friends and family gatherings, and of course, I would always get recommendations to start my own business. If I can make my friends and family happy with my cooking, I’d like to extend that happiness to others and give satisfactory service.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My dishes and appetizers are made with unrivaled care and commitment, as well as only using the finest ingredients. Reading the positive client feedback following an event motivates me to do even better. After much deliberation, I decided to turn my hobby into a business. I have to say that I knew it would be a success since I put my love and passion for cooking and enjoy displaying my talents into every dish I make. Given the competition in this field and the flux of orders, it was challenging to get to where I am now, but because I am confident in my abilities, I know that it is and will be distinguished from other companies. In addition to time management, seriousness, and professionalism, it needs a great deal of discipline and dedication to carry out each request. A great amount of diligence and planning is required for each event given. When I was in Venezuela, I never would have thought that the culinary arts would be my main source of inspiration and now, being able to turn it into a career is a huge honor.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To start the day, I’d recommend La Industria located in Bayside. It is a Puerto Rican/Venezuelan fusion restaurant developed by famous artist Nicky Jam. They have amazing breakfast foods, such as pancakes and arepas, with very generous sizes. In addition to having outstanding food presentation, they also provide delicious meals. I really like the little touch of each plate having a miniature orchid petal. Since orchids are both the national flower of Venezuela and my favorite flower, I can appreciate this small detail. A real Miami experience must include strolling through Bayside to take in the charming coastal views and visit the little boutiques. It would be fantastic to visit Wynwood around noon and check out this sushi and ceviche restaurant called Suviche. It is both Japanese and Peruvian, so it’s a fantastic choice to taste both and diversify one’s taste. In addition, Wynwood is a fantastic spot to find inspiration for art due to all the stunning murals and paintings. With the lovely lights from the skyscrapers near the sea, Downtown Miami’s nighttime city vistas are breathtaking, so I’d definitely recommend doing that at night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to recognize Militza Camacho, my sister-in-law. She has always recognized my abilities and potential. She has always motivated and inspired me to do my best at everything I do. Thank you so much for being a major source of inspiration for me and my company; I will always be grateful for your devotion and for giving me the drive to keep loving what I do.
