We had the good fortune of connecting with Jac Viramuerte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jac, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Manifesto Multimedia was the first step in becoming a self-sufficient artist & simultaneously becoming our own bosses. A lot of times me and my business/creative partner Samuel Romero find ourselves working or freelancing for other film companies with big production budgets & we always thought to ourselves that there’s nothing really stopping us from getting to where they are. If they can do it then so can we, and that’s what we’re striving for now.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I write & direct films, but that basically means that I’m a storyteller & what sets storytellers apart from one another is the kinds of stories that they tell. What I hope to do is to use my unique perspective on life, as an immigrant & DACA Dreamer, to convey a greater message to audiences by addressing social, political & moral issues within all of my stories. The message will ALWAYS come first & everything else is just a method in which to get the message across to the viewer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I’d take them out to Virginia Key beach, I think that’s the most beautiful beach we have in Miami & I’d like to show them all the pretty little hidden spots. Then I’d take them down through homestead to Aerojet Road where we’d hike 8 miles to see the abandoned nuclear facilities & the missile they left behind. We’d also definitely have to catch a few 35 film screenings at the Nite-Owl Drive-in. For food I’d take them to Taste Buds of India & Katana which are both on Normandy Drive on the North Shore of Miami Beach, we can get it to go and eat it at the North Shore Open Space Park & maybe catch a concert later at the North Beach Bandshell.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is always such a hard question for me because I never know where to begin! My mother & father, my loving girlfriend Vanessa, my business partner Sam, my doggo O’ren, my small group of friends, my amazing film crews, Kurt Vonnegut, Bob Dylan, Albert Camus, Lou Reed, Angela Davis, Jean Paul Sartre, Voltaire, Caspar David Freidrich, Franz Kafka, Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders & everyone who’s ever inspired me in some way whether big or small.
