We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Salcedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of SheLife has been self-less growth while giving back new valued experiences to the LGBTQ+ community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most passionate about EXPERIENCE, the ability to think of an idea and making it real for our audience to feel and absorb. It feels like I am being a magician, one day its an idea in your mind and then next thing you know its real, its right in front of you, and you get to see all the beautiful connections, friendships, and relationships that came by that one idea.
SheLife has played a part of the butterfly effect, our events have helped connect people, build romantic relationships, save a life, and be inclusive to other event organizers of our LGBTQ+ community. I see more a closer community now than six years ago.
I am most excited that SheLife Events will soon be a non-profit organization, SheLife started as a solution to a problem, finding a safe place to party but then it became more than just a party. It became about making a difference to those who participate in our events, to those who DJ, host, sing, film, dance, act, and play sports. I have seen our artists get more bookings after their participation from our events by someone seeing them through social media or someone experiencing them at our events. You can see the growth of their economic flow. I believe that SheLife has become a platform that sparks something inside of these souls and activates their internal source of talents that before might not have been explored. A place for local artists to think outside of the box.
In our recreational sports activities, like soccer and football I’ve witnessed a manifestation of friendships and sisterhood. Our girls wanted to be part of something, they wanted to belong, and listening to testimonials has humbled us, how it has helped with depression, loss, loneliness and motivation.
Outside of my imagination, designing, and engineering, I currently have three companies.
I am also the Director Of Operations of Boom Swipe where I help local business owners make money through technology by accepting payments through gateways for retail, e-commerce, and wholesale distributions, From time to time, I like to look at properties that are in distress and fix them with Real Estate Fix.
I believe nothing sets me apart from others, the only variable we all have is self-awareness. I believe we have all the qualities to make something extraordinary, we just have to learn how to TAP into that fire inside of us that will make that switch for us to take action and execute.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots is the R house in wynwood. Definitely can be memorable moment for those that are looking to eat, listen to music, have drinks, and watch a show.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special thanks to @Garyvee for inspiring me to have the mental attitude to start and not letting fear or regret get in the way of manifestation. The director of UM LGBTQ+ Counsel Dr. Vega , in 2016 she was the 1st adult I spoke to about the 1st event, she passed the baton of knowledge with a tip of confidence that building SheLife events was going to be possible. I just had to do the work and make it happen. Another recognition I would like to give is Miami’s LGBTQ+ community, throughout the year’s SheLife was inspired by the women who came to our events and brought their enlightened energy on the dance floor, as a result of making the events memorable. And then there were some individuals that stood out, that poured more into SheLife than what I envisioned myself or would I have believed it would mean something to them as it means to me, the entertainers and experience creators. I want to give a big thanks to DJ Ic3 for her friendship, loyalty and courage, Natasha for her patience and detailed thoughts and making sure we as a collective are protected, Jess for being my right hand woman in logistics, someone I can learn with and lean onto, Estefania for her exhilarating passion and continuous support with the love of arts and culture that we both share, and our LGBTQ+ soccer, basketball, and flag football community and lastly our filmmaker Franco who has really impacted the story behind our events with his quality videos and filmmaking ideas. They are each a part of a heart put down that makes SheLife whole.
