Meet Jacquie Herz | Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacquie Herz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacquie, how do you define success?
I define my success, at this later stage in my life, with the writing of my novel, Circumference of Silence, its road to publication, and then the gratification of seeing all the stars and reviews it receives from readers.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
During my business life, my husband, Peter, and I launched and sold three companies. Our second was for an accounting/marketing software package that we developed for the Promotional Products Industry. Responsible for writing the manual, I also provided the software support, as well as the training, which required us to visit clients’ offices all over the country. Working in our latest business–producing printed items for the promotional products industry–one of my day-to-day functions entailed running the factory. In order to source the many products that we needed to add to a new catalogue we published every year, we traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia.
But all through those years of child-rearing and working, I managed to steal enough time to write and attend writers’ conferences and workshops; I was so fortunate to have had the most amazing teachers who helped me define my goals of writing the novel that became the Circumference of Silence.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I live on the beach in Lauderdale-by-the Sea, the beach would be the first place to hang out, soak up the sun and relax. Then I have three favorite restaurants to choose from. The first is Cafe Seville a Spanish seafood restaurant on Oakland Park Boulevard. And across the street is Rainbow Palace, the best Chinese you’ll ever eat. Then there’s Mason Jar on Federal Highway that has the best burgers and fries.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am most thankful for my family—my husband Peter, my daughters and sons-in-law, Jordie and Rory, Nikki and Paco, and their children, Sammy, Devin, Lucy, Harley, and Maeve—who have never lost faith in me and whose love I cherish beyond all words.
