We had the good fortune of connecting with James A. Hicks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James A., is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing about this industry that most outsiders are unaware of is only around 15% of financial planners, advisors or consultants are minorities. This industry does not properly reflect America and the society that we live in concerning ethnicity. One of my main goals was to be someone that my nieces, nephews, and others can look up too and also know they can be successful in the world of finance. It’s a proven fact that people feel more comfortable around others who have similar experiences and backgrounds as themselves. I want to be a representation of my culture and society within the financial services industry, as well as show a level of expertise and professionalism that any client would expect. I do not want anyone of any race, sex or background to feel uncomfortable working with Hicks Financial; Asset and Wealth Management. Regardless of your net worth, or money you have in the bank, I am willing to sit down with anyone in order to help them reach the next level financially.

What should our readers know about your business?
Currently concerning my business, I am the most proud of the fact that we will be celebrating one full year in business come this June. What makes me so proud is that this business was created and it has grown during the worst pandemic in modern times. I have had to deal with situations and issues I never dreamed of. Some of my clients caught Covid 19 and had to struggle to get well. And I was there to help them to handle there finances properly and to bounce back. I was also able to help them use the resources of the government during these crazy times to invest in their future and well being. None of this has been easy. One of the biggest hurdles to overcome is people self doubt due to their situation. My job is to be their financial coach. Remind them of how strong they are and how they will become better and stronger due to the challenges they face today. So far I have been blessed to work with clients all across the nation. Due to the pandemic, most people are use to virtually meeting with their doctors or family via a form of video chat. This has allowed me to reach and work with many families and small businesses across the nation in order to help them build their financial structure. I also realized that if Hicks Financial; Asset and Wealth Management can make it through the pandemic and still thrive…….then we can definitely make it through any other storms.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well here in Orlando Florida, you cant have a fun trip without visiting Disney world and/or Universal Studios. That alone will take up maybe two to three days depending on what type of tickets you have. Next we could spend a day shopping and eating at the Millenia mall. Also spend a few nights walking around disney springs or city walk. Due to the pandemic some places or limited, but we could definitely get some food at some of my favorite spots…….Hawkers, Del Frisco’s and Maggiano’s. And last but not least, when all else fails……take a trip to Daytona Beach and spend the day walking and playing by the water.
