We had the good fortune of connecting with James Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be very simple, knowing I was able to help change lives and set that example for my kids. I want my clients/ people to remember me as having great energy, and also helping them not only physically but also transform mentally.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey started 13 yrs ago when my first job as a trainer was at a corporate gym, where I realized how gratifying it is to change the lives of athletes and general population not only physically but mentally as well. Ever since then, I fell in love with training. I Love inspiring, helping people and building relationships. Fast forward, throughout years of training from all levels from general population, grammar high school to professional athletes, I’m constantly educating myself and evolving as a professional trainer. Being a former athlete, it’s gratifying to see progress and improvement on your own performance. Can you only imagine being apart of changing someone’s life not only physically but mentally as well? Of course it wasn’t easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it. Life is a sport! There’s always going to be wins and losses. During the process, there’s gonna be challenging obstacles and hurdles. It’s about adjusting and learning from the losses. Once you understand that, you learn to embrace the losses. Its what builds character and is going to help you evolve in anything in life. The majority is not willing to do what it takes to put the work in. When I started my journey, I struggled with qualifying the information researched when programming workouts for my athletes and general population. Today I train all one on one clients from all levels of fitness novice, weekend warriors, and even professional athletes at a facility called Victory Performance. I’m a certified trainer in biomechanics and human movement that specializes in sport’s performance and aesthetics. What sets me apart is the details that go into my clients programming. My client’s workouts are based on 50 orthopedic muscular skeletal measurement assessment of joint ranges of motion (based on science not opinions)to come up with the most comprehensive training program tailored for them specifically based on their fitness goals. I also guide my clients through their lifestyle, nutrition and most importantly the mental aspect of it all. For details, you can catch it on my IG page @Jr_fitnesstraining . If there’s one advice I can give to all fitness professionals, is to “Never Stop Learning!”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wynwood is my type of spot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
