We had the good fortune of connecting with Janelle Nia Campbell-Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janelle Nia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always been an avid believer in the quote “No risk, no reward”. In my opinion, there is a certain level of growth that is required in order for each of us to reach our full potential and I believe we can only achieve such growth through coming out on the other side of discomfort, uncertainty and fear. I have recognized that success requires sacrifice and risking the known for the unknown, the now for the later and the present for the future. Simply put, there are no guarantees but we must be prepared to lose in order to win. The price of entrepreneurship, from my personal experience has involved risking security and comfort. Resigning from my full-time 9-5 career in the corporate world meant I no longer had much of a cushion to fall back on and ultimately forced me to work even harder to pursue my dreams. In fact, such risks are at times my fuel and a catalyst for me to keep going when success seems impossible. If I ever feel like throwing in the towel, I focus on what I have given up and it allows me to refocus, recharge and remember the ‘Why’. Every victory thus far has been sweeter because of what was sacrificed to get here and ultimately, without the risks that I have taken, I would not be where I am or who I am today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own and operate Infinitely Hers and Lleia Luxe Events. Infinitely Hers was launched in 2014 and is an online retailer that specializes in hair extensions and cosmetics. Our line of cruelty free cosmetics includes lipsticks, lip-gloss, eye shadows, pressed glitters and highlighters. We are most proud of our ability to create and provide products that are used and adored by women all over the world, regardless of skin tone or race. What sets us apart is our mission to build a strong community that focuses on women’s’ empowerment and self-love. Lleia Luxe Events launched in 2019 and is an event planning company based in South Florida and Jamaica. We specialize in the planning, design and execution of events including weddings, bridal/baby showers, birthday parties and gender reveals. We are most proud of our ability to keep our clients satisfied through effective communication, precise budgeting and a strong focus on details. What sets us apart from competition is our ability to create an exclusive and personalized experience for each client where he or she feels like the only client. I believe my professional growth is thanks to my determination and courage. Overtime I’ve gained an understanding of the importance of mindset and its role in success and growth. As a result, I have the ability to overcome challenges easily because I recognize that they are inevitable. One on my biggest lessons thus far is recognizing that the journey is perhaps more important than the destination. Ultimately, I want the world to know that Infinitely Hers and Lleia Luxe Events were created by someone who simply believed she could and trusted herself to give it her all. It is my hope that my story inspires others to trust the process and most importantly trust themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because I’m a certified foodie, my friends from Jamaica always gain a couple pounds every time they’re in town. Our favorite breakfast spots are Kristof’s Kafe in Davie, The Foxy Brown in Fort Lauderdale and Another Broken Egg in Pembroke Pines. For drinks we would head to Sugar Factory in South Beach, Blue Martini in Fort Lauderdale and Cooper’s Hawk Winery in Cooper City. For dinner we would head to Mr. Chows in Miami Beach, J Alexander’s in Plantation and Shooters Waterfront in Fort Lauderdale. And lastly, for fun, we would visit Miami Beach or Fort Lauderdale Beach, Top Golf in Miami Gardens, and Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my husband, mother, and father. They are my reason and their encouragement and support over the years is one of the reasons I’m still standing today. Truthfully, they have picked me up and brushed me off more times than I’m proud to share. They have taught me that it really takes a village and because of them I know, that when you are loved correctly, you become unstoppable.
