We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarod the Sixth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarod, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being a creative has always been something I loved doing since young. I grew up taking private piano lessons and drawing manga art to creating paper planes. It was never for the money aspect but for the love of expressing myself. I see it as my therapy a little. I used to work for a lot of good companies and jobs over the years while doing music and photography as a side hustle after I graduated from high school but It wasn’t until 2020 during Covid when I realized as I got older if I don’t jump and go all in, I wouldn’t be able to fully do what I’ve always wanted to do. Which was be a creative full time. So I just jumped; put in my two weeks notice and moved out of my apartment where I was comfy into an small office space where I was sleeping on the hard wood floor eating, breathing, sleeping videography and music everyday. Best decision of my life looking back at it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I play certain roles in different areas of the creative field but my main title would be a Creative Director and Project Management at the bulk. I’m an artist so I release music as Jarod the Sixth but I also run a videography/photography company full time as Chinn Films; which is my last name funny enough. I also run a creative company called Chinn Dynasty that was started back during high school days.

I manage artists, make beats/engineer and produce music for upcoming creatives, edit and shoot video content for businesses and clients and manage creative projects. I love being a creative; it’s something that makes me jump up in the morning and brings me joy. It may not always pay well but the peace of mind it brings is way more everlasting and priceless.

Where I am now wasn’t without its challenges and I really had to fight for everything I’ve accomplished and created. Sometimes, over the years I would get very depressed, sometimes suicidal, as it felt like I was getting nowhere. Like I was wasting my time. Days of tears crying to myself thinking I’m not good enough. Years of being broke sleeping on my friends couches and asking them for money to get by because of sacrificing my time learning and perfecting my craft locked in. Sleeping on hard wood floors in an office space learning film and editing for a year. Years of going to the studio 3 times a week getting off a 9-5 heading straight to the studio working on my sound and perfecting my vocal range. I’ve spent most of my life alone with myself and my thoughts trying to figure out how best to move and be successful.

At the end of day, as much as I’ve accomplished a lot, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. If it wasn’t for the support of my friends, family and God 100% I wouldn’t have made it to where I am now.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is THE spot to be. There are so many things to do there and even in Florida as a whole. I would definitely rent an Airbnb or hotel for a week right by the beach. The water is magical and being there feels like your on an island. Instead of driving a car, first thing I would do is rent a scooter. Ride that thing all over the country clubs and side roads. Explore the city downtown and then head to grab some food by the beach enjoying the sunshine. I love adventure so I’d explore more than party at the clubs; it so much more exciting to me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a lot of individuals in my life who have helped me be great. They have helped me in times of need and in times of comfort. It really takes a village to raise a boy into a man and these individuals have helped me jump and catch me when I fall and if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be absolutely nothing.

These individuals include Ron Fizer, Mia Dre, Marche, Johnathan, Kierra & Demarco. Tevin and Josette. Rohey & Gass. Jalil, Daniel Latsis & Paula. The homies at Vibehouse EST who rocked with me since we started the team since day one (Leak Williams, Sco Jackson & Nigel Da Goat). Rokkkstar Emman & OG Herm. Khaliq and Kamal Dansby who allowed me to be at their studio for years for free recording and improving my artistry. Roland Carter, Michael Straw, Jon, Joseph Ford, Jason Dania & Tonio for being the day ones who’s kept my spirits high and supported me from day one in high school. FemiBenTV for being the mentor in my life in London helping me be a better man, Damon Davis being a big brother in my life and my family including Kardel for the support and love they’ve shown over the years.

Last but certainly not least, RIP to Huncho; he really meant alot to me as a homie and we made alot of music together.

I wish I could hand all these guys an award for all the amazing sacrifices they have done for me to keep me alive, healthy, focused and to help me be the best I can be. Everything they’ve done hasn’t gone unnoticed and stays with me everyday.
