We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think risk taking is what life is about. It makes life worth living, and it helps you explore new depths of yourself that you never would’ve known. If you would’ve stayed in your comfort zone.
Within my life, risk taking has helped me to become a healed, knowledgeable, calm, disciplined and outgoing person. Within my career, it’s helped me to understand what it is that I love and what I should not longer invest my time and effort into.
Which helps me discern what I want to do and, how I want to spend my time earning money, Adding ease and prosperity to my mental and physical health.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I think separates me from any creative oh artist is my authenticity and my passion for pouring into people that looks like me.
I am very true to my values and principles, and it allows me to create work that not only benefits myself and helps me heal and become better in every way. It also helps others do the same thing if not more. Even if they’re just watching me and not purchasing anything for me, I think that me being authentically who I am and passionately, creating allows others to know that they can do the same.
I am most proud of my growth. When I first became an entrepreneur. My first business was lash extension services. Looking back that business helped me build a foundation for who I am today and I am so grateful. I didn’t know much I didn’t have the same drive, the same intelligence or the same maturity that I do now. But it took that one step to get me to where I am today and I think that’s the most beautiful part of the journey. Something like a butterflies metamorphosis. You start on a branch building your cocoon and you develop and you grow to emerge a beautiful butterfly whose wings are vibrant and authentic to you. Which was only made possible from your personalized journey.
I got to where I am professionally by realizing I don’t know everything being, open to change and actively looking for others that can help me get to where I need to be. This process wasn’t easy. I believe my personal and professional journeys were intertwined. There’s a saying in entrepreneurship that if you don’t deal with your problems, they will show up in your work. Which could not be more true. I overcame my personal professional challenges first by giving myself grace. As an entrepreneur and as a person, I was stepping into new territory and it wouldn’t be possible if I were rushing myself and comparing my journey to everyone else’s. which took a minute for me not to do. But by giving myself grace, I was able to take some pressure off of myself and enjoy the journey so I can really learn the lessons and process everything.
Secondly, I reached out to others who may know more than me or others that simply can offer me some kind words on the journey. There is a lot of things that you have to do alone as an entrepreneur or as a creative, but you don’t have to do everything alone. So by reaching out to others and allowing them to help me and pour into me in various ways, it helped me mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
Lastly, I kept my faith the size of a mustard seed. When venturing out to insult the status quo, there will be a lot of people that have various opinions that differ from your own. Making you question yourself and even alter your vision. But due to my faith in myself, in my journey, and in my calling, I was able to see past the illusions and peoples self projections to commit to what it is that I started.
I have learned that you can’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. We all have different starting points, different, different advantages, different disadvantages, different forms of help different financial backgrounds. It would be foolish to think that because someone else has this that you can’t have that or that you’re unworthy because you don’t have it right now. Use others as inspiration and cheer them on. We can’t compete where we don’t compare.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love being from Miami and I think the best part about Miami is the blend of different cultures. Regardless of where you go, you’re bound to meet someone with a beautiful smile and a radiating soul that has a story to offer about their time in Miami. Making your time even more enjoyable.
One of my favorite things to do is visit the beach at night. You can go alone or you can visit with friends. Play games, talk, read, sit under the nighttime sky, enjoy the sounds of the waves, eat, drink, and walk the boardwalk.
I’m a very simple girl who loves nature so anything I do I would love to do it outside. Whether it’s kayaking, canoeing going to the beach or, taking a walk in park that’s my vibe. And the vibe that I would introduce anyone else to. It’s so serene and it gives me time to calm down and enjoy life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to my friends as well as my cousin. When I made the decision to drop out of school and fully invest my time and effort into entrepreneurship. I confided in my friends and my cousins a lot, and they were there for me to help me navigate some thoughts and just to listen to me and they’ve been supporting me since day one. They’ve helped me heal and grow into the woman I am today.
Honestly if I didn’t have them by my side, I don’t know how far I would’ve been able to come. Their love and support means so much to me and I just want to shout out my friends Ahyuanah, Kanisha, Tashanti and my cousin Aniya for their love and patience. Thank you!
