We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Wilfand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting your own business can be tough. And it was. I was a former professional ice skater/performer at Disney On Ice, and to perform in an ice show in Tampa. Needless to say they never ended up paying me! I was so frustrated I became determined to start my own business and never treat a performer or employee as a number. Once my business started growing, I moved from less “all about making money” to more perfection and quality when it comes to what I put in front of audiences. Its the best feeling in the world, and there is so much more I’d like to accomplish!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ice Creative Entertainment sets ourself apart from other companies because of our extremely diverse skill sets, adaptability to create multiple forms of entertainment for our clients, and for our overwhelming work experience in the international entertainment sector. We have partnered and developed shows and events for world class theme parks, dinner theaters, conventions, sporting events, televised events, and five star hotels. Partnered with multifaceted levels of properties has widened our business practice and business perspective. Additionally, throughout our partnerships we have been trusted year after year to self manage our performers, performances, and overall events. We also specialize in add-on entertainment options like atmospheric entertainment, meet and greet opportunities (all contractors are guest and media trained), and management of public ice skating rinks and skating lessons.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Normally, I am a hermit crab and really enjoy a night in these days. But, here are a few of my favorite spots in Nashville: Centennial Park- lots of open space and great nature Hattie B’s- The best hot chicken I’ve ever had Rooftop hangs- either at a rooftop bar or my current house has a rooftop Broadway- The big party street. I normally steer clear but will go if a guest wants to go
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
During the beginning of the pandemic, my aunt introduced meditation and thinking more optimistically. I took her advice and committed myself to becoming a better person, a better businessman, and better friend, and a better lover. Because of that push, I feel like I am finally in the place that I can create and give the community something to. escape reality by seeing one of our live shows.
