We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmyne Sippio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmyne, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because art has always been my biggest passion in life. From being a little girl sitting in my room drawing pictures I saw from the comics to designing a 3D model of an image I wanted to recreate myself. I always made sure I enrolled myself in every art class that had an opening available. From elementary to high school, I took basic drawing, painting classes, and 2D, 3D art classes, and even woodshop. After graduating from high school, I attended Santa Fe College in Gainesville where I earned my A.A degree in graphic design. A few years later, I attended The University of Central Florida where I achieved my B.A degree in Studio Art. By acquiring my Studio Art degree, I was able to expand my expertise in art by taking classes such as book binding, mixed media art, ceramics, sculpting, painting, and drawing. After graduating, I knew I wanted to pursue my dreams of having an artistic driven career , and I did just that. I’ve always followed the saying, “If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working on it”. I stepped out on faith, and with the encouraging words of support from my friends and family, I started my own art business, “A Sipp of Art”. My business allows me to set my creative side free for myself as well as others, and in doing so, I am able to challenge myself each day whether it be by teaching myself a new eloquent skill, or having to finish an order in a timely manner. I recently secured a job as an elementary art teacher. I teach kindergarten through sixth grade, and I must say, I adore teaching art to my students. I admire seeing the passion I have for art through them, and also seeing them dig deep into their creative side. Also given the chance to teach kids who may have disabilities is a blessings, because art is one of the few things that is not restricted. to anyone. The joy you see across their faces once a project is complete is priceless. I chose this career path to help people learn that although art is fun and sometimes misunderstood, it is a way to be expressive, or a way to speak when you can’t find the words. It provides the ability to create and help others in a different way, and most importantly it is also a type of therapy and even an outlet for people who made need a little extra help.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of how far I came, was the road easy?, no, but was/is it worth it? yes. There were many challenges that I was faced with such as teaching myself new creative techniques to help improve my artistic competence. Also having your own business is not always the easiest because you have to learn how to manage your time, how to pick and approach your audience, how to have products finished and shipped out in a timely manner, and also learning how to have an open mind because you will always have to deal with criticism whether it’s bad, good, or helpful. Taking all this in only makes you stronger and more determined which helped mold me into a professional individual. I’ve learned in order to overcome any obstacles that are thrown at you, you have to stay focused and never lose hope. I’ve always remained determined in my work and in my journey and to take every step as a learning experience. The main lesson that I have learned is nothing comes easy. I want the world to know that I am dedicated to my craft and helping others find their inner creative side.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I reside in Orlando, and I would definitely recommend Lake Eola, especially if you’re looking for somewhere to go to just relax by a beautiful lake possibly paint, have a picnic, or if you want to just clear your mind Also if you’re looking for a night out in the town, downtown would be the place to be. There are lots of people to see, and meet, lots of clubs, if you’re a huge music fan and bars, if you’d like to grab a drink or take a shot or two. One of my favorite food places to eat at because I love food is “LIME” and I’m also a huge fan of Mexican food, there is also one in Miami. One place I love to get drinks from is “SHOTS” the atmosphere is fun, and you can’t beat good music, drinks, and just lots of fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely love to thank my mom for always being behind me 100% and supporting me through my whole journey. Her prayers and words of encouragement have helped me tremendously. Also the faith and belief she has in me is something I will forever be grateful for because through the good and challenging moments it has kept me strong and continuing on. Also my best friend Sade Butler, who is no longer here with me. Her time spent on earth with me was like no other, she believed in me, even when I almost lost faith in myself, she pushed me and would NOT allow me to give up, and she was by my side from the very beginning. My older brother Kevin Sippio has also been a tremendous help and very supportive throughout my journey. My close family, my grandmother and my aunts have also supported me and helped push me to my highest limit. Also my closest friends who have been so supportive and helpful Shekia Merrell, and Joslyn Hudson. Also Anyone else that I have crossed paths with who made an impact in my life, I am forever thankful.
